Bitlocker not available on my D drive

Can anyone suggest why I can apply Bitlocker to my C and E drives and also my K drive (a USB stick used for Readyboost) but NOT my D drive? The D just doesn't appear in Control Panel/Bitlocker and neither is there an option to apply Bitlocker in the context menu when in 'Computer'.

Many thanks.

Hi Brink. The D is the same as the C and E. I bought the PC mail order and specified a 3-way partition split. C & D are both 29GB while the E is 90GB.

Hi Brink. The D is the same as the C and E. I bought the PC mail order and specified a 3-way partition split. C & D are both 29GB while the E is 90GB.

I can't access either to bitlocker with my drive D: (WindowsXP)

All the others are fine and can be used with bitlocker.

I mention that Restore point is unactivated for the drive D:
but i remenber i couldn't have it activate anyway.

I'm on dual boot on the same Hdd,

C: is Windows 7
D: is XP
E: recovery (for xp)

My ready boost dedicated drive G: can also have Bitlocker.

Pooksahib and NoN,

Is the D: drive a OEM recovery partition? If so, then you will not be able to use BitLocker on it.

Could you post a screenshot of Disk Management to see what your drive layout is? It may be able to help determine what may be wrong.

My screenshot don't want to work on my keyboard keys...and my grabber either..

I'm on Notebook XP pre-installed oem, so that's maybe why.

mine is:

C: Windows 7 - Ntfs - safe (logical drive-start)
D: windows Xp - Ntfs - Safe (primary partition-start-system)
E: Recovery - Fat32 -safe (primary partition)
G: ready boost - Fat32 - safe (primary partition)
F: CD/DVD ROM

Thanks brink!

Guy's I'm not certain why it is not working for you, but I suspect something to do with the OEM partition.

NoN, It looks like D is your boot volume. I don't believe you can use bitlocker on a boot volume.

Sorry for the late answer, My primary boot volume had been partitioned to create c: to install windows7...so i guess your right. Thanks!

I'm using EFS (encryption File System) to my needs now so doesn't really matter for bitlocker on my D: Drive.:)
