Black screen after installing graphics drivers

I did a clean install of windows 7, then i installed firefox, avast and utorrent. I then downloaded the newest graphics drivers from nvidia, I have a GeForce 7300, and installed. After I rebooted the screen went completely black after the "starting windows..." screen. And the monitor goes into sleep mode displaying: "No signal input"

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Try SAFE MODE, press F8.

Boot into safe mode and change the resolution to a low one. Then reboot into normal mode, choose the resolution you want. Before applying it though, also choose a refresh rate that your monitor can handle. Then apply and save settings.

When I go to Programs and Features I can't see the driver. Very strange.

I installed the driver in safe mode, then I uninstalled it. I could then boot normally into windows 7. But after it installed the graphics drivers automatically it now turns black again.

Go to Device Manager, and uninstall your driver from there.

Go to Device Manager / click on Display Adapters / right click on your card / click uninstall / and then reboot.

You mean you set a low resolution in safe mode, then rebooted, and it's still black then? There's also a vga mode to boot into that could possibly be of some use if uninstalling the driver method doesn't help. Maybe you could boot into that and have access to settings. I dunno, never tried it myself.

Hmm, so I went into the device manager, uninstalled what I should and rebooted into normal mode, it then downloaded the graphics drivers and said: Nvidia blabla something was successfully installed and it wanted me to reboot, so I did and now the screen is black again.

Windows failed to start now, so I did repaired it. Works fine at the moment.

So I should not download and install any graphics drivers?

I wouldn't do anything for a while, and see how it gets on, it is working now isn't it.

Windows does feel very slow and laggy. I'll have to try and play a game and see if it's the same there.
