Black screen & movable cursor

Help!!! After sending my pc to sleep last nite i immediately tried to restart by hitting enter or moving cursor as per norm, After having to hard shut down as there was no response, i then got the asus motherboard page asking me to tab for set up or delete for bios message, (everytime now) I skipped & ended up starting on safe as normal was not working I then went for restore point which completed that process but on completion I ended up with black screen with movable non blinking cursor. It will load on normal start through to windows logo but instead of desktop it is the same... black screen etc... control alt delete etc will not work & it does not seem to register the motherboard cdrom or the supermulti cd rom... no boot from cd option that i can see.... help??

Hello and welcome Stubedont mate some specs on the machine would be good and just how long have you had it - have you backed it up etc

Well I did get it going in the end, found the windows 7 cdrom, altho it would not do repairs, as it stated I needed to unplug devices etc.. usb's i take it.... I had unplugged everything. Nor would it restore to previous points & I tried 2 different one's more than once. The only different thing that I can think of is when I reinserted 2 flash drives. The pc then started & showed the desktop before crashing to blue screen. The next start up & everything was ok.. I think that the original cause was that I tried to restart too soon after sending the pc to sleep
