black squares, no icons

Hi all,
I've got a problem with black squares covering icons. If I make the icons larger they are OK but when set to "small", just a black square! I thought it may have been due to "ultimate tweaker for win7" which I had installed and had used to get rid of shortcut arrows, but I've deleted that and the problem is still there. I've also deleted the hidden icon cache in user/app/local and rebooted...still no good. Any help welcome, txs

Problem solved......but in a strange way!
I loaded UWT, (ultimate windows tweaker), and after hours of trying different things I found if I clicked on a few items then set each page to default again and rebooted all returned to normal.
Each page had to be done individually, ie set page 1 to default, reboot, set page 2 to default, reboot etc etc. Dunno how, why or what, but it worked!

Those programs simply make registry modifications, you setting them back to default fixed your problem.
