Blu-ray software

Picked up a sony blu-ray writer for my PC. (on sale at new egg). Anyways, also have a LG blu-ray/DVD player already installed. The LG came with cyberlink software, basic.
Is there any better blu-ray software than cyberlink? I can read disks in the Sony drive but not watch blu-ray movies. Don't want to upgrade cyberlink if there is a better software package out there. Tnks

PowerDVD, however that isn't free either.

InterVideo WinDVD.

Slysoft AnyDVD.

There really isn't a wrong or right answer to this question.​

Personally, I use Nero Platinum and love it. Many others hate it.
The downside is theres no Demo for it. well, there is, but any advanced features such as BluRay playback are blocked.
So you just have to purchase to have that part.​

Theres also Cyberlink Power DVD as you have already mentioned. Never liked it myself.​

You've also got ArcSoft Total Media, Roxio CinePlayer, and WinDVD.
I do not know much about these.

These are the only ones i can think of right off that are worth mentioning.​

Between Cyberlink's Power DVD 11 and Arcsoft's Total Media theater 5, I would choose the later.

You may download the trial versions of these and then decide on the one you like.

I use Windvd. I had been using Power dvd v7 that came with an old lg bluray, but when I bought a new bluray movie it wouldn't play and it wouldn't update. Forcing me to upgrade my software. So I downlaod a trial of Powerdvd 11 and Windvd and I found windvd performed better on my computer. Powerdvd seemed to use more CPU's. So I'd download the trials see which one runs best on your system and or which one you like best for features.

DAPlayer failed for me on my Win7-64 system. I tried it on a BluRay disk I created with Sony DVD Architect Studio using an LG drive and it tried to open a file instead of playing the disk as a regular Blu-Ray movie. I also have PowerDVD 8 and that played the disk fine.
