Blue Screen After Upgrade from Vista to 7

This is a 4 mo old Dell laptop on which I installed the free upgrade to 7 a few days ago. Have had issues ever since. Initially it would shut down w/ a message that laptop was too hot ... didn't make sense ... a couple of times it had just been turned on. Now I get the dreaded blue screen. Help!
