Blue screen of death. Urgent help needed.

I took a memory test and it said no errors and told me to press ESC to reboot and I did and it went black then before it even started to open again I seen a blue screen and then it went black again and started to boot.

I think that blue screen was a little problem at start up though to do with the test not previous crashes. Would you like me to follow the normal procedure and upload the usual up to here or can we skip that?

If you are posting to me, there is nothing to upload. Just follow the instructions for the memory test.

I done the memory test. No errors. Should I just come back and post BSOD results next time it happens and see where we go from there?

Continue to follow the instructions of the other membesr, who are helping you. I just had a thought that it might be memory related. You are working with quality members of the BSOD squad. Follow their instructions.

Thank you, Rich, very much for helping. I appreciate it.

Here are the results!
And I can not use my computer for 24 hours straight! Can I leave it on overnight just running?

To answer this question. Yes you can. You can just run it for a couple of days.

I done the memory test. No errors. Should I just come back and post BSOD results next time it happens and see where we go from there?

You ran Memtest for at least seven passes, correct? And there were no errors showing in red?

If no errors were found in seven passes, you RAM is most like fine. That is good news. But we still have to find the problem.

Go ahead and run Driver Verifier. You don't need to let your computer run all night. You can shut it and down and when you reboot, Driver Verifier will be running until you turn it off. Here is the link to the tutorial: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Use your computer normally. Upload any BSOD's as soon as it is convenient to do so.
Hopefully if a driver is the cause, a BSOD will identify the faulty driver.

Our next step will be to test your hard drive. But we will do that after you run Driver Verifier.

Problem again. Windows update told me it needed to do updates but on reboot BSOD kept happening and wouldn't let me in to my system. I booted safe mode and looked and the windows update had infact installed an earlier version of my Synaptics Pointing Device driver than the one I was already running. So I did a system restore and now I can get into my system. Will be uploaded crash reports soon.

Again, both dumps are error code 19, BAD_POOL_HEADER. Usual causes are device drivers. Unfortunately, the dumps do point to any specific driver. Driver Verifier is not enabled in these dumps. Enable Driver Verifier if you have not done so. Post any dumps generated by Driver Verifier. You definitely have a hardware issue, we just have to find it through the process of elimination.

You also have an old version of a known problem.

ASACPI.sys fffff880`03d52000 fffff880`03d5a000 0x00008000 0x42476c4c 3/27/2005 22:30:36

ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

Just double-click on the driver zigzag linked to, and a black box should appear, then close.

The driver should then be installed.

I have rebooted but driver has still not moved.

In my downloads folder I have a folder called: MB WIN7 ATK then inside that is a folder called 32 and another one called 64 then inside 32 there is folders named Win7 or WIN2000 or WINVISTA then there is an .exe file called AsAcpiIns which is what I double clicked and a configuation settings file called install. Then in the Win7 file there is a security catalog called asacpi then a setup information file called asacpi then a system file called AsAcpi.sys (which should be in drivers).

Navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers. Look in that folder for ASACPI.sys and check the date. If it is dated 2009 or later, it updated. Installing will not remove the files from your Downloads folder. The files will remain there until you delete them.
