i posted a few days ago about a problem with photoshop. i got a blue screen while using it on a very undemanding task.

i just got a second blue screen, and decided to start a new thread, because this time photoshop was open, but minimized. i was surfing.

i managed to take a blurry photo of the screen. the error is 'a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval'. i've never uploaded a minidump before - if someone could give me specific instructions on how, i would be grateful. the last blue screen also said something about 'clock'.

this is a brand new machine. mostly - i bought a new cpu, mb, ram, graphics card, and case, and vista, and had it assembled with my old hard drives. vista crashed 4 times in a week, and i switched to 7. after the last blue screen, i tried what i could and finally reinstalled windows and formatted my second drive, and switched to avast av. bios and all drivers are up to date.

dear god, help me!!! i've never had such a fast, fancy machine, and it has already kakked on me 6 times!!!

Could you goto c:\windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it for us to look at. If you cant find it in minidump you can search for it *.dmp

thanks in advance

Ken

the minidump file is empty. under properties, it shows the file has 0 bytes. it was created 24 minutes ago though. 'show hidden files' is checked.

i could upload the photo... it's blurry, but readable...

Not much there but go for it. you may also have write an event unchecked in system cpanel>advanced settings>startup

My fault for not explaining it better. You could check event viewer (type event viewer in search) to see if there are any errors listed that relate to the problem

my ram came as a combo deal with the cpu and mb. the ram needed to be overclocked, but i left that to our compu guy. the board is designed for overclocking, and came with a utility. i don't know how to check if it actually was overclocked.

the ram is 1600 mhz and the board's default is 1066 mhz. but asus says ram can be overclocked on this board up to 2000mhz.
