I dont know what monitor you use,try googling it to be sure.

Usally you have buttons on the front of your monitor, press the menu button and have a look throught the options, resoultion should be there.

the monitor samsungT240HD.

i changed the mode from dynamic to standard this has shown improvement.
cannot understand why under vista with same graphics card [ati 4350hd] the picture of everything was very sharp and crisp but in W7 office, web and full page stuff is good but dialouge boxes come up blurry.

thanks for the tips, when you first mentioned monitor i thought you had meant via dislay etc

No problem, some monitors will no doubt come out with better drivers ,it seems a lot are just behind on supporting windows 7,its not as bad as when vista came out but still troublesome.

Try adjusting it a small bit by going to control panel>change to small icons>colour calibration.

Hi, i just joined to ask help for the same problem.

It is not obviously a monitor's issue since a lot of elements are perfect looking and sharp, and some are blurried.
See this snapshot:

sshot1gn.jpg

Can you see it? Firefox looks perfect and codeblocks totally blurred!!

Another strange issue has shown up: when i see pdf files online (havent tried local but im sure will be the same), right click it shows a BLURRED menu but furthermore it shows up far from my mouse. So very weird.

Last thing i remember i did before this started to happen (it was all perfect at the beginning) was connecting my laptop through HDMI to my dinner room flat TV...but that's all.

So...help?!

I think you'll have set a larger dpi when setting up the machine as I've been playing with the same feature and had the same problem.

1. Check you have the correct native resolution (which you probably have)

2. Control panel -> Display. It should give you a magnification option and I'm guessing you've got it set to something other than 100%. Change it to 100% and see what it's like although text and icons will become smaller.

Basically some software such as firefox takes advantage of increased dpi settings and scale things correctly however some applications don't have this ability because they've not been coded for it. It's particularly noticeable with dialog boxes, drop downs, icons etc.

Try it and see how you get on.

I'm use this mode but want to be able to easily change it without having to log on and off or restart the system so if anyone knows how you can do that then please let me know.

You were right Ollie222, i'm now in 100% text size and everything looks how it should. Even the dropdowns etc.

But i don't remember having this problem (im certain of this) before, and i had it set to 140%. It's been a few days ago from now that i realized this issue.

What can i do? I'm going to turn myself blind with everything so small to read. Any solution??

Surprise surprise. I just turned it back to 140%, and now it works properly, big and sharp.

What a mistery. I guess some options were screwed and resetting this turned them back.

Thank you for the idea!

I'm glad to hear you've found the problem but unfortunately the only solutions are:-

1. Use software that is DPI-aware

2. Try using better multiples which may make it a bit better 125%, 150%, 200% etc

3. Change your monitor to one with a larger pixel size.

4. Change your monitor to one with an even smaller pixel size and then use 200% magnification which will probably look a little better.

5. Buy some magnifying glasses to stick over your eyes :D

Unfortunately none of the above are brilliant solutions but they are you options.

You'll also notice that images are also scaled in a similar way.

What size is your current monitor and what resolution are you running it at?

My problem is I'm used to monitors with a pixel size of about 0.25mm x 0.25mm but my 15.6" laptop with 1080p screen is about 0.175mm x 0.175mm.

Thank you for the idea!

Glad you've sorted it. Presumably something in the scaling in the software got confused.

Try restarting your machine again and make sure it stays the same.

I'd still be interested to know what size and res you've got.

I had a similar issue in Vista with some of my computers (Intel onboard graphics mostly), and this fixed it:

Find the exe for the program that is blurry (i.e. in Program Files)
Right-click, Properties, Compatibility tab.
Put a checkmark by "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"
Click OK
Run the program again.

Hopefully it'll now be un-blurry - although the program might be smaller now that it's not scaling it.
