Hi,
I have a windows 7 64bit Samsung NP350V5C-AO2UK laptop (specs here is you need them (NOTEBOOKS - Performance - Samsung NP350V5C-A02UK Laptop - Laptopmania - Laptop Deal and Offer) It has been working ok until now and I've had a few issues with it but I've managed to resolve them. A few days ago I switched it on like normal and I got the following error message:

Windows Boot Manager:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

I inserted the Samsung System Recovery Media Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 DVD I got with the laptop into the DVD drive and pressed enter. The disc sounded like it was loading and the laptop went to the initial Samsung switch on screen but then the screen just went blank and after waiting about 10 minutes and getting the same error message I just switched the laptop off.

I then switched it back on and pressed F10 till the Please select boot device: screen appeared and I selected my CD/DVD drive and pressed enter I got the press any key to boot from CD/DVD screen. I pressed a key and the disc sounded like it was loading and I got a Windows is loading files... message and then windows is starting after that the screen went blank for a few minutes and I got a blank screen with a movable arrow on it. I've tried this a few times and keep getting the same thing happen every time. Also,I looked online and most people manage to fix it by inserting the disc and clicking repair but I can't find a solution for the problem I'm having. I've uploaded two pictures here https://docs.google.com/folderview?id=0B2wc2lSMDXYGM0FqS3NZNUtfWjg&usp=docslist_api of the problems if they will help you if you can't see them on the post.

Sorry for the long post. Can anyone help?
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Alex

Hi thanks for your reply. I have been working on the steps that were on the tutorial you posted.Step 1 my hard drive is detected and set to boot first then second to boot is my CD/DVD drive. Step 2 I couldn't boot into safe mode because when I pressed F8 when the laptop booted the advanced boot options wouldn't open there was just a blank screen for a bit and then the error message appeared again. Before I posted this problem on this forum I managed to open the advanced boot options but the repair your computer option wasn't there and I selected safe mode but the laptop just went back to the error message. Step 3 I first put Windows Defender Offline on a USB flash drive and tried to boot the laptop from it but it didn't show on the boot list when I pressed F10. I restarted the laptop and went in to the BIOS settings to see if it would show there in the boot device priority list but it still didn't so I put Windows Defender Offline on a blank DVD and booted the laptop from it but when I selected my CD/DVD drive from the boot list, after pressing F10, the laptop didn't say press any key to boot from DVD and there was a blank screen for a while and then I got the error message again. I restarted the computer and in the BIOS settings I set my DVD drive as the first boot device and saved it and restarted my laptop but it still didn't say press any key to boot from DVD like it did when I tried to boot from the Samsung Windows DVD I got with the laptop. There was a blank screen for a bit then I got the error message again. I set the BIOS settings back to default. What should I do now?

Thank you,
Alex

Try resetting BIOS to defaults after taking note of SATA controller setting. Are there also settings on Advanced tab for UEFI, CSM, Legacy BIOS? Did you see choices in Boot Order for UEFI devices?

Try making the Win7 installation DVD for your licensed version provided in Step 6. Can you boot that as a DVD or stick?

I've attached 3 pictures of the BIOS settings and I'll look at step 6 now.

I have a Samsung System Recovery Media Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 DVD I got with the laptop. Is this what step 6 is asking me to make or is it different?

If it's just one DVD then it's a clean copy of the OS without any of the Samsung crapware. The tutorial explains how to determine after install what enabling software is needed in addition to the drivers which are provided by Win7 - which is a driver-complete OS in the installer and via Important and Optional Windows Updates.

You should be able to boot into System Recovery Options to run Startup Repairs and the other Repairs in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start which use the Win7 DVD. If it boots then I'd consider remaking the other disk unless you can get into Safe Mode to run a Malwarebytes scan. Sometimes if its heavily infected Win7 will not Repair.

It's just one DVD. I have used it before to reinstall Windows 7 on this laptop. When I try to boot using it previously it worked fine and I got all the options to reinstall windows repair etc but now when I boot from my DVD drive with it it says press any key to boot from CD or DVD and I do then it says starting windows and then it goes to a blank screen with a cursor on it. The laptop shouldn't have any viruses or malware it scans every week for viruses.

These boot disks require special tools to burn to disk or stick, so be sure to use the one's provided.

Hi,
I downloaded the ISO file X17-58997.iso from the website that was on step 6 and then burned it to a DVD using the programme that was provided. I booted my laptop to my DVD drive by pressing F10 then selecting my CD/DVD drive and I got the message press any key to boot from CD or DVD drive. I did and it said Windows is loading files and that loaded quick then it said it again which took a little longer but was still fast then it said Starting Windows and was there for a couple minutes then I got a black screen with a big arrow larger than a usual sized arrow. This is the same thing that happened when I booted from the windows 7 disc I got with the laptop. What should I do now?

Thank you for your help.
Alex

Hi I have already started working through the steps and was replying to what you told me to try for step 6 but it didn't work so I was wondering should I try another step now?

What about the hard drive? How is it detected and if so does it test good?

If so then does your boot disk boot and queue up to Repair My Computer, detect an OS on another Win7 PC? If not you'll need to get a completed download of your licensed version of Win7 and burn to disk using tool provided again to see if will work. If not then try the flash stick alternative.

If this persists try resetting BIOS to defaults. WHile in BIOS setup look for UEFI, CSM, or Legacy BIOS settings indicating you have a UEFI BIOS. This requires booting the disk or stick as a UEFI device, and the stick must be specially made from Option One of UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

The hard drive shows in the bios boot order setting and when it boots from the hard drive I get the error message:
Windows Boot Manager:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

In the BIOS boot settings it says UEFI Boot Support Disabled

When the DVD disc boots it just has a blank screen with a movable arrow on it after the starting windows message. I'm not the best with computers sorry if I don't understand what you mean when you tell me to do something.

Who installed this Win7? If it was installed to UEFI then that setting if changed would make both win7 and disk unbootable.

You can not skip any steps to proceed. If you need help completing any step I gave you then ask back.

Why no reply to trying to boot disk in another computer to test it?

Sorry I thought I had put that in the edited reply I might of accidentally deleted it when I was editing the post. I don't have another windows 7 pc to test the disc on only windows vista. A computer shop wiped the computer and installed it for me as I bought it used and it has been working till now.

Download Partition Wizard bootable CD ISO, rightclick on ISO to burn to CD with WIndows Image burner, put in PC and reboot, tap F12 Key to get boot menu, choose CD/DVD drive to boot, take a picture of the PW drive map and listings, attach back here that file using the paper clip in Reply box.

This will tell us if a disk is bootable and clear up what kind of install you have. If there is an EFI Boot partition then you need to turn on the UEFI setting in BIOS.

Once in the Welcome to Partion Wizard Boot Disc! menu should I select boot from Partion wizard boot disc, Partion wizard boot disc (safe mode) or boot from local drive?
