Hi,

I recently have bought Samsung Series 3 NP350V5C - S06IN Notebook.

Specifications of this laptop: Samsung NP350V5C S06IN

I want to dual-boot Windows XP with Windows 7 HP.
This laptop has SATA hard drive.

Laptop has Intel 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller Driver (according to Device Manager).

I can't seem to find this driver for Windows XP.
Need your help, guys.

Could someone give me instructions how to install XP?

Thanks VistaKing,

The drivers you provided worked like a charm! :)
After installing XP, I installed and launched EasyBCD and installed Windows 7 BootLoader (as shown in guide on NeoSmart's forums) and restarted laptop.

It booted into Windows 7 and I then successfully added Windows XP entry in bootloader and again restarted but it directly booted into Windows 7, I didn't see any boot menu.

I then checked boot entries in EasyBCD, there were no changes I made before; there was only Windows 7's entry in it. I even tried installing Windows XP bootloader but same thing again, always Win7 boots.

It happens maybe because laptop has two hidden partitions:
> SYSTEM ( C: )
> SAMSUNG_RECOVERY( H: )
It might be confusing for EasyBCD because:

Windows 7 shows C: as OS drive but XP and XP setup shows C drive as system reserved drive.
I think his game of drive letters is causing this problem. I don't know what to do next.

Any ideas?

Please post back a screenshot of your Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image - Windows 7 Help Forums.

You've tried adding XP by Name, Type and drive letter seen in Computer? This doesn't work?

It may take running a Win7 Repair Install to effectively have Win7 add it to a Dual Boot menu, but there may be something else once we see where the boot files are.

XP is very old and becoming increasingly difficult to install on modern hardware.

I just needed to change these settings in BIOS:

AHCI Mode to Enabled from Auto
UEFI Boot Support: Disabled

Then I added entry using EasyBCD and it worked!

UEFI wasn't enabled in that Disk Mgmt screenshot or you'd have a UEFI boot partition. So you must have been in Legacy BIOS or running with CSM enabled all along.

AHCI also would have already been set or Win7 wouldn't start when you enabled it.

So something else must have affected EasyBCD, perhaps just deleting the previous attempt and trying again which often suffices.

I don't know what had happened to EasyBCD, I tried adding and deleting XP entry many times but the result was same. But after changing AHCI mode to enabled from Auto, it started working! I don't know how but it did!
