Hey everyone,I need urgent help with my laptop.

First, today I've been using my laptop - Lenovo G500s with Windows 7 x64 and then electricity in whole city fall out for a moment any my laptop turned off because I am not using laptop with battery inserted at home.

Electricity fall off happend before of course, but this time it was different.

When I turned on my laptop, it started to make wierd, not very loud noise, like 30 times *beep*, like when the truck is reversing (a bit slower). And I recieved this error:

find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /webaolu
Error 15: File not found
Press any key to continue...

So when I press key...
large

First 6 opinions return to same error as mentioned above and last two are consoles. After I try to reboot using console command "reboot" it reboots the computer and it stuck at "Lenovo" welcome screen and it stays forever on the screen.

I've found a lot of threads of this but always helped Windows Repair from installation disc, but when I enter disc and set CD/DVD mechanic as first (priority) in BIOS, it doesnt load the disc and doesnt even show "press key to boot from disc..." message.
The only thing it shows is black background with blinking ( - ) symbol and after while it returns back to the error above.

Yes, I bought this laptop without OS (it has MS-DOS I guess).

But I managed to boot Windows Installation disc from USB drive. Everything's going fine, it loads up the installer and I begin installation, but when it prompts me where to install OS there are no choices (partitions) and the field is blank - the setup is asking for some drivers.

What can be problem that the partitions are not showing? Where to get drivers ?

Maybe can help, but always when I attempt to reboot system via Windows setup it stuck on "Lenovo" welcome screen and nothing happend for very long time and I must "force shut-off" by pressing and holding power button.

Commands like bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot DOES NOT showing any effect.

Time for new hdd?

NOTE: Hard disc drive is DETECTED in BIOS and in device priority (Using original Seagate 1TB 2,5" - st1000lm014-1ej164)

Hi Zwrtron
Seems you have/had dual boot system with linux.
If you didnnt then just need to startrep.exe
you may fix the windows part by booting from the window 7 disc(or bootable USB)> recovery tools>command prompt> browse to
cd x:\sources\recovery
startrep.exe
This will create the windows bootloader, if you indeed have a dual boot system with linux, you will loose the linux. in that case need to manually edit the grub.config in linux(if it boots in linux) if it doesnt boot in linux either, just boot using any live cd and edit the grub file

On a further note if you were not Dual booting then you have an activation exploit on the machine.
and until that is removed no further help can be provided

torchwood, what's an activation exploit? How does such work? I'd like to learn so that I can advise others [in my college cafe] to stay away from such things and the reason why, thanks!

@torchwood - Thanks for your answer, unfortunately I'm not really sure if laptop had/has dual boot because I bought this laptop from second-hand (over 2 years ago). Seller told me it has MS-DOS when he bought it and I've used original copy of Windows 7 which I've used in my company to install current version of Windows (which I also used to boot from USB).

I've tried using Startup repair using technique you posted but it didn't help at all, like the most windows-in-build "solutions" do (personal experience).

In my opinion the laptop seems to be totaly ignoring HDD... when trying to setup windows it doesnt show it, even in diskpart.

It might work if you try W7 without loader option 2.
Try resetting Bios to default values

Thanks but I tried those steps you said.
The first one using second option return to the same error screen as shown in first post.
Reseting BIOS settings doesn't helped either.
There are just questions I cannot answer...
What makes the noise?
Where can I get driver for VILG1/G2 LA 9901P motherboard (chipset driver from lenovo doesnt work, I put these files on another usb stick and it didn't loaded anything during setup)?
Or is the hard drive dead?
