Hi, I know a lot of people have posted this but I think mine is different to theirs.

I took a SSD drive used to boot my sons pc, placed it in my computer and cloned it with Norton ghost onto a bigger drive.

When I put the new drive in his PC I got the error "boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

I put his old drive back in, and got the same error as I assume because I placed it in another PC with a boot drive, it removed the boot capability?

I have tried to do a startup repair etc, but none of that will work.

Can I get his old drive to work again? All the info is on there, and I have a fresh install of windows 7 on a separate drive so I can boot in and look at his SSD, but am unsure how to continue.

Google has NOT been my friend!

With both the original boot drive and the new drive with a fresh copy of windows in it, I went into the installation cd and was going to see if both versions came up, but before it gave me any selectable options it said it had fixed an error and would I like to reboot.

After I did it went into a dual boot screen with windows 7, and windows 7 ultimate 64 bit (recovery) options.

When I select the recovery version it boots into the drive like a dream, with everything there, so I closed the system, removed the new drive with the fresh version on it and I now get the missing ntldlr message, so I guess I can fix this with normal bootrec etc. commands.

I'll post on how I get on!
