Boot times

So I was asked to make a seperate thread, so here it is

but Im having, what I consider, slow boot times, running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

It takes roughly 3mins from power on to reach desktop

This is a new build computer, so its a fresh install, no services other then MS ones are running.

I did install x32 as well and the boot time was considerably quicker, with around 50seconds, but still seems abit long, imo. My intention is to use all 4gigs of RAM and not just 3.2.

This pc is ment to be low budget, did I perphase go too low?

Go to MSCONFIG, click on "Startup" tab and disable everything except the antivirus app. Then restart and check boot time.

The only "Startup" programs running are from programs / drivers that I installed from the mobo cd

I went ahead and disabled them anyways, and the boot time increased to roughly 5mins

What's the boot-up time like in Safe Mode out of curiosity? If acceptable then maybe a problem with suspect drivers?

its about the same, 3mins

I built 2 identical systems and they both, for whatever reason, have issues with x64. Ive checked the RAM timings in bios and they are correct. The only thing I notice during the boot up, when its on the windows splash screen, I hear activity on the HDD for a few seconds, and then idle for around 2mins, then more activity, then the CDROM fires up and spins (mobo cd left in) and the desktop loads shortly after.

With that said, I removed the cd from the cdrom, and my boot time increased from 3mins to 5mins?!

It seems that this might be a SATA issue?

OK so I tried Windows 7 x64 (Enterprise) and it boots up nice and fast, 20seconds to desktop. Im just going to assume I didnt build a powerful pc to handle the riggers of Ultimate
