DBAN is not booting on this laptop either because the USB boot feature in the bios is disabled and cant be enabled from what im seeing. It does not have a CD drive either.

Yes i was asked for a password but i just pressed enter and i went into the bios.

I dont know the password as this is a laptop given to me by college.

yeah but this is another laptop i just put the Packard Bell HDD in to wipe it. The laptop with bootmgr missing problem is not booting for some vague reason.

Do you know how i can remove the bios password or crack it? i dont want to open up this Thinkpad laptop because it has a warranty seal on it near the cmos battery.

Yeah they own it , and its upto me if i want to purchase it or not but that is only after i graduate.

USB adapters are easy to find for Hitachi HDD?

I think this might be common practice by schools & colleges to block BIOS access. My son's school netbook is BIOS password protected. It's a real PITA when you know what you're doing.

Will the disk and stick boot on Lenovo without the HD inserted?

If so then it is the HD blocking them. It needs to be wiped as code in the boot sector is blocking booting of disks. If PW or DBAN will not autostart then you can slave it using USB adapter cable.

If not then the problem is clearly the disks or stick or the way they are being burned/written. This is why I went around with you on this for quite awhile at beginning. If Download tool doesn't work then use ImgBurn, Universal Installer, or UltraISO trial.

DMBAN is installed with Universal Installer , the others were installed with Ultraiso Full version

You announced halfway through that CD drive wasn't working any longer but never answered why. If you haven't tried booting a Win7 installer DVD burned with Win7 Download tool or ImgBurn then you won't know for sure that a disk won't work.

You've never made it clear if you attempted to boot a Win7 installer DVD burned with Win7 Download tool as I gave you in my first post. If so did you try writing a freshly downloaded official ISO from the link given to flash stick using that tool?

Is there any kind of BIOS lock or password on the Packard Bell like there is on the other laptop? No, we cannot help you crack a BIOS password and you should not ask such a question again here.

I'd find another laptop to install HD into to wipe the HD to see if it will then autostart the installer on original machine, or install Win7 to see if it will start up on original machine - then if not SysPrep it first.

Greg thanks alot for helping , I really value that.

The problem is i do not have a laptop with a CD-Drive to burn a W7 iso with a download tool. The Repair disk i made earlier was done on a friend's computer which had a cd drive , i don't want to bug him again and again about borrowing his laptop.

Let me try to boot DBAN on Lenovo while the HDD is removed , if that does the trick then my PB HDD is blocking USB/CD boot.

Does DBAN have autostart ? Because i can't launch it with Boot menu or by changing boot order in Bios (check the pics i posted)

I do not know if DBAN will write to USB flash stick with Universal USB Installer, or if it autostarts. Did it have a listing for it in Universal USB Installer dropdown? If not try the Ultimate Boot Disk which does for sure and offers more options including testing the HD, and will autostart for sure.

Yes it did have a listing in the dropdown , and guess what no luck in Autostarting DBAN without HDD ,i bet this laptop does too have restrictions in the bios for booting anything.
Because the laptop i have is somehow protected (in case of theft etc) so no other person can install a new OS on it which leaves the laptop completely useless.

Can you diplomatically approach your college technicians and ask if you are able to boot from a CD or has it been blocked in the BIOS. The answer may save you a lot of wasted effort. It may be a job for them to fix.

The laptop with the bootmgr missing problem is my own . its just that my college laptop uses the same kind of hitachi hdd. But apparently it is restricted. i removed the cmos battery from the college laptop hoping it would remove the bios pw but now it wont boot without typing in bios pw which i dont know. All im left with now is my phone.... which im typing from .haha

Today i went to a computer shop and got the HDD wiped , went home , put in the boot cd and boooom! it booted like butter.

Still have one problem left , ive installed the drivers but when i play a youtube video and start to browse the internet in another tab , the sound of the music randomly starts to shudder and the whole laptop gets stuck with a clear white screen. Leaves only one option to force shutdown with the power button. When i boot up again a message pops up on the desktop ''windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown''

Did you change any drivers given by the installer and/or quickly updated/provided by optional Windows Updates? Which? As stated in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 you should only change out installer/Updates drivers if there are performance problems.

Make sure you have the latest Display and Sound drivers.

Check the logs and System Resources for clues using these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

Nvidia 7000 graphics driver and conexant hd audio driver were installed through windows update

Then i saw a yellow triangle on ''Coprocessors'' in device manager , i installed this driver http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-55407-1
and the triangle went away.

These are the only drivers i have installed
