Solved BOOTMGR not found after removing linux and merging partitions

Correct that the problem was that the System label was on Recovery (signifying the System boot files reside there) which means it also must be marked Active to boot. But the Active flag was on C.

The Active flag is a pointer to which partition is intended to boot Win7.

Had you wanted to move the System boot files to C since the Active flag had been moved there, it would require running Startup Repair - Run up to 3 Separate Times.

Best though to move it back to Recovery as the OEM apparently intended to help boot the Recovery partition if it is ever needed to run from boot. If you ever decide you don't want it then we can help you remove it, recover the boot files and the space into C.

Actually, one small issue has come up that i just noticed. Now, when i open up "My computer", it shows a 2nd drive called D. the Recovery one. This was never up before i installed linux. i know it's the recovery one and would like for it to remain invisible except for when i have to reformat. any ideas?

A disk has a DISK SIGNATURE. Disk Signature Definition
A partition has an offset to where it starts. So I mean the partition's start sector.

Did you change disk signature or start sector of RECOVERY? Is so... windows7 thinks it's another disk and/or other partition. In both cases it assigns a free drive letter.

Always check drive lettering after moving (change start sector) partitions. Also check this after cloning.

Most partitioning software adjust drive lettering automatically.
