Bought new Memory and it says XMP-1334

ok i got some new memory today crucial memory 6gb worth. and when i look at CPU-z it says xmp-1334

what is XMP and what does it do... also my cas is at 7-7-7-24 but it looks like i can go 6-6-6-20 would i get better performance...

XMP is Extreme Memory Profile.

I don't use it. As far as I know, it's for more aggressive memory settings.

I seriously doubt if you would notice the difference between 7-7-7-24 and 6-6-6-20 if your placebo effect is turned off.

Using XMP on my system does bad things. Jacks the volts to high and BSOD.

You can't control volts when you have XMP on? I adjust the voltage idependently and just let XMP take care of the timing and clock. Usually XMP gives better frequency as well as timing.

I use XMP for simple performance while maintaining stability. I can OC the CPU much more and/or drop the voltage some, but then, less stable and reliable.
