OK, I have your answer...couple years late but hopefully it'll help other's lol.

The commonly-experienced Dell laptop "Broadcom ush error" seen in device manager can now be addressed through careful selection of the proper Dell driver. It is important to note that the Dell Drivers page does NOT show this as applicable to my laptop, but they are WRONG. It is mandatory.

For example, my latitude E6400 upgraded to Win 7 64-bit had this annoying error until I downloaded Dell ControlPoint Security Driver Pack 1.4.056, A18. This is also known as R269916. During installation, a popup screen comes up asking you which driver packs you wish to install. I wisely unclicked everything except the "Control Vault Drivers" checkbox. It's probably wise to do this because the driver pack contains a bunch of stuff that applies to newer or different machines that may create more compatibility headaches. This ControlVault driver will specifically correct the Broadcom ush trouble, no matter if you have a finger print reader or not. Once installed, the Broadcom ush item on the device manager will vanish and a new totally valid entry will appear called Control Vault. If you drill down, it will mention the finger print sensor under this item. My particular E6400 has no finger print sensor and it shows as such. The dell driver version in device manager is listed as 6.0.6000.10408.

Everything is perfect now.
