BSOD 64bit - SOLVED -

i have installed windows 7 64bit, system specs are below. everything works fine and dandy untill i install all 4 gigs of ram. i've tried every one by itself and in every slot. the ram works fine, all the slots work fine... i'm at a loss.

bsod occurs exactly when the windows 7 logo starts loading

Hi and as my collegue Tews says

Welcome to seven forums

Could you go into c:\windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us so we can debug it? Let us know if you need help in uploading or finding it

KEn

Does your BIOS have a max memory setting? It should be unchecked if you have it

cant get into safe mode, and there is no max memory setting for my motherboard and the bios is fully upto date, its obviously ACPI compliant.. ive also for the hell of it tried /PAE on which did nothing

Bug Check 0xA5: ACPI_BIOS_ERROR

You might want to check again about your ACPI statement....b/c your bugID from W7 says it ain't completely compatible.

Did you enable ACPI after installing 7 or before?

Something about this setup is not smelling right. ACPI should not be affected based upon the RAM amount....

However, I have a 780i (for Intel CPUs) made by eVGA - and all over the forums there was a mad stampeded by folks that could not get Vista installed with 4 GB of RAM - reduce it to below that (~2) and installation worked fine. After that, though, users were able to install the other RAM and away they went.

I suspect that the 790 is not playing nicely with W7 either ....
