This is Model No: MWN-USB150N. I just installed the software that came with this USB adapter and I've about 3 BSOD's in a weeks time, previously I have been using this computer for around 9 months with zero BSOD's, so I'm assuming it's something to do with the adapter.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to copy anything from the screen or remember what it said, but I do have the minidump file.

Thanks a lot for your help!
But it's a broken link and I'm not sure what file you want me to download off that site.

The same problem with the driver... But even more.

...I'm not sure what file you want me to download off that site.

I had the same problem. I do not know which file to download because all of these seem to refer to RALINK products.

However, I found a USB that they manufacture that is both 2.4 and 5 ghz (RT357X)
RT3572 <product.php?sn=1009> 802.11a/b/g/n 2T2R 2.4/5 GHz USB Single Chip

The tech on here said to use a driver for RT 2870 and the one that I found on their website is RT 3572, so I assume that is the right driver to use? Is that the one you used?

I only got the BSOD when I tried to shut down the computer and the adapter was plugged in. It would never shut down but eventually gave the BSOD.

It also had an equal problem trying to start up; not starting until I remove the adapter.

An equally big problem, is that I can never get the adapter to enable! Do you have that problem ever?

At least that is what it says in the "Network and Sharing Center" when I tried to enable the adapter, a small pop-up window says that it is enabling, then almost immediately says that it is enabled, yet it still does not work or show any local networks, even though my router is only 5 feet away.

When I go to device manager, the only option I have is to disable the adapter, which seems to imply that the adapter is already enabled. But alas, it is still not working. It causes a problem shutting down and starting up my computer and gives the dreaded BSOD.

Hoping that updating the driver will fix the problem!!

The driver on my system appears to be from 2009??

Any thoughts on this?

By the way, my adapter is a Medialink adapter made by Mediabridge and the part number is MWN-USB150N - the same as yours, I believe?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

I had the problem reviewed by techsupportforum.com. Please see the review at http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f299/bsod-w7-shutting-down-only-with-usb-wireless-adapter-plugged-in-671651.html

Interestingly, I also have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit...

Do you just delete the driver in Windows\system\drivers\ ?? And replace it with the new driver?

This appears to be the right driver: Ralink-A MEDIATEK COMPANY

Is that what you used?

Did you have any of the same problems as I did?

Thanks again,

Ben
