BSOD after resuming from hibernate/sleep

Hi all,

For the past month or so, I have been getting "Windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown" when turning my laptop back on from hibernate/sleep. Using BluescreenView I get the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error caused by ntoskrnl.exe. From my Googling, it seems that ntoskrnl.exe is just a catch-all for another driver misbehaving, and I can't find out which one it is.

I have updated my onboard graphics, graphics card, chipset, Wifi/ethernet, BIOS, and mousepad drivers with the most updated I could fine, but this problem is still happening. After I updated my onboard graphics + graphics card, the problem seemed to go away for a week, but now it's back. The only difference being the Caused By Address in Bluescreen view says "ntoskrnl.exe+770aa" now versus "ntoskrnl.exe+78a8a" before.

Thanks for your help.

The driver to the Qualcomm Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time; and apparently that is causing the BSODs.
Code:
fffff880`0319e9b8 fffff880`0514cc54Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\ts_athwx.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ts_athwx.sys
[COLOR=Red]*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for ts_athwx.sys[/COLOR]
 ts_athwx+0x100c54
the driver is the latest.
Code:
    Image name: athrx.sys
    Timestamp: Fri Mar 06 09:02:23 2015 (54F91FC7)
So there is no adequate reason for it other than a conflict with the driver to ar5416 chip, Atheros AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter Service 7.7 (c:\windows\system32\drivers\ts_athwx.sys).

I think you dont you the Atheros AR5008 now, so uninstall the driver for it, and see how the computer runs.

Hey, thanks for the response.

Just to make sure I understand you, I have an extraneous driver for a AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter? How would I go about finding that to uninstall it?

Let us check in the possible places. First look at here .....

  1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Menu Search box and press Enter.
  2. Double click to expand "Network adaptors".
  3. Take a screenshot of the device management window in this state and let us see.

I actually rolled back my WiFi driver to the old (wrong version), then uninstalled it. Then reinstalled the new version. I also manually deleted the incorrect driver from the system32 folder. Seems to have worked so far. Thanks!
