BSOD After Sleep Wakeup

Hello,

Everytime I wake the PC from sleep mode the main log in screen will appear but within a matter of maybe 30 seconds I get the blue screen of death. I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 three times now but still this problem occurs. I'm ignorant when it comes to using WinDbg but the basic problem I have gathered is that this error is caused by csrss.exe. I have researched this file and some say it is a Windows system file and others say it is a virus. I seriously doubt it is a virus because it exists after a fresh install and only when drivers are downloaded and installed from mfg's websites.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I've been traveling.

The analysis of the memory dumps doesn't show a whole lot, but we can draw some inferences from them.
This is the termination of a critical object for some reason - and csrss.exe could be that critical object.
Since you've freshly installed Win7, it's not very likely that it's a virus (but the possibility remains depending on how you installed Windows).

There is one older driver that's mentioned in the dump file (ahcix64s.sys Mon Apr 16 06:20:13 2007). So, I'd suggest updating it to the latest version that's available for Windows 7. I suspect that this is a chipset driver from an AMD chipset - so I'd start by looking at the AMD website for it.

Beyond that, I'd have to wonder if you have any incompatible hardware/software installed? Have you run the Windows Upgrade Advisor? It's free here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

That's ok, but I do appreciate your reply. Would you say the ahcix64s.sys driver is more to blame than the csrss.exe file? Here's a little background on the ahcix64s.sys driver: this is for my MSI AMD SB600 chipset so I can run two HDD's in a RAID 0. The truth is, the SB600 driver from MSI's website is not signed and to avoid pressing F8 every time I restart Windows I downloaded a signed SB600 driver from some AMD Game Forums. Maybe not the best choice but I like to press the power button on my PC and walk away...not sit with my finger on F8 during boot-up to bypass the driver signature enforcement if you know what I mean?

Everything looked ok with Windows Upgrade Advisor (refer to screen-shot)...any suggestions on what to next?

Well, good on you for the truth.

The best course of action then is to test with the proper driver and hit f8 to boot. If no bsod ever happens this way, you have your answer.

So at last I found it...think I did

Solution for BSOD after wakeup:

Go to "Device Manager" > Expand "Disk drives" > Right click your hard disk drive or SSD > Click "Properties" > Choose "Policies" > Uncheck "Enable write caching on the device" > Click "OK"

do the same for any storage device on your PC -if necessary-
