I get the BSOD when I try to shut my computer down from the start button, and it just powers back on, not shutting down. I have to turn it off from the power button. Any suggestions. Henry Cee

It is GIGABYTE On/Off Charger, one of the lots of Gigabyte bloatware that you have installed.

  • Start Menu\Programs\GIGABYTE
  • Start Menu\Programs\GIGABYTE\AutoGreen
  • Start Menu\Programs\GIGABYTE\EnergySaver2
  • Start Menu\Programs\GIGABYTE\ET6
  • Start Menu\Programs\GIGABYTE\Smart 6
These things are not only unnecessary but also highly problematic. You need to uninstall them all.

Also free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Let us know how it is running after doing it. A close monitoring will be needed, because uninstallation of the programs are not always enough for those stuff. If the issues continue even after uninstallation, we will suggest you some further steps.
