Solved Bsod caused by USB3 driver

This copy of windows is counterfeit, your product ID matches an Asus OEM_SLP key while your motherboard is a retail gigabyte model. This is only possible through a hackers exploit. Please purchase a legal copy of windows format and then reinstall with the new legal copy.

Hi there
I wouldn't say that the copy of Windows is Counterfeit -- it seems to be an OEM copy -- now unlike W8 you CANNOT transfer an OEM copy of Windows from one machine to another. You CAN however BUY an OEM copy (usually cheaper) with some hardware like a Mobo -- but the OEM product has to be licensed -- it will usually by the vendor you are buying the hardware from.

So while I wouldn't go as far as to say your version of Windows is not genuine - I would suggest that it's certainly unlicensed for the mobo you are trying to install it on.

Cheers

Jimbp.
There are three type of OEM License Key - and two types of OEM License.

OEM_SLP and OEM_COA_SLP (AKA COA_SLP) keys can ONLY be legally used on machines which shipped from the (large) manufacturer with that version and edition of Windows installed which is on the COA sticker on the case at manufacture.

OEM_COA_NSLP Keys are System Builder Keys for smaller builders.

Thus an Asus Key on a retail motherboard (or one from another manufacturer) is by definition counterfeit, since for 'activation' to occur it must have been forced by breaking the licensing rules by installation of a Loader/Activation Exploit, or by tampering the BIOS.

A little update. After a while my external hdd was still shutting down during a transfer but I've found the fix and it works fine now.

I downloaded and installed Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Driver and it also installs a small utility where you can check an option to disable usb 3.0 power management function. Maybe it will be of use for anyone else.

I just came to say thank you Golden.

Are any USB devices apart from keyboard/mouse plugged in? If so, disconnect them first then install.
Thank Golden. I always get BSOD after installing USB 3.0. Now, I know how to fix it, many thanks to Golden :D:D:D:D:D
