Hi,

I am on from a clean install of Windows 7 from previous W7 & HDD crash (see previous thread).

Yesterday I experienced my very first BSOD since the install. And today it happened again.

Here's my computer:
Windows 7 Ultimate (Guenuine and not an update)
AMD FX-8350
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
nVidia GeForce GTX 660

Using NOD32 & ZoneAlarm along with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware.

I read the minidumps with WhoCrashed and here's the report:
On Sun 2013-04-28 21:59:56 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: rt64win7.sys (Rt64win7+0xA4467)
Bugcheck code: 0x101 (0x19, 0x0, 0xFFFFF88002F64180, 0x2)
Error: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\rt64win7.sys
product: Realtek 8136/8168/8169 PCI/PCIe Adapters
company: Realtek
description: Realtek 8136/8168/8169 NDIS 6.20 64-bit Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an expected clock interrupt on a secondary processor, in a multi-processor system, was not received within the allocated interval.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: rt64win7.sys (Realtek 8136/8168/8169 NDIS 6.20 64-bit Driver , Realtek ).
Google query: Realtek CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

As I write this, I am Googleing "

Realtek CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT" to see if I can find any info.

Everything is up to date BUT Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is NOT installed since it fails everytime (using Windows Update to install it). It hangs on "Preparing to configure Windows" and stays there. Tried to hard reboot it, no change. Have to go in safe mode and wait for it to revert then reboot again.

I dont know if it has to do with something about my BSODs.

Thanks for input,
Maesen

I recommend installing SP-1

Alright, I just installed it through the Device Manager. I then rebooted even if it didnt not ask me to. Now I guess I have to wait and see if I get any more BSODs.

You got me by a few seconds! SP1 is not installed because it fails everytime so this was my second question:

Also, why cant I install the SP1 of my W7? It downloads, it installs and when it reaches 30% of installation, it reboots and hangs at "Preparing to configure Windows". Then nothing. Have to force it to revert changes in order to be able to log back in. I am trying to install SP1 through the Windows Update.

Thank you sir,
Maesen

Yes a clean reinstall if you look at number one it says

" 1. Download the latest official Win7 installer ISO with SP1 for your licensed version "

In this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164
Yes, but I did not do a Clean REINSTALL, it followed the steps for a Clean INSTALL. Which doesnt have anything to download. I did not reinstall Windows, I literally started with a brand new Hard Drive.

If there is no Windows on a hard drive and you install windows on it that calls clean installation .
This is exactly what I keep saying. But you first told me about the Clean REINSTALL that was proposed to me in my previous thread and you then asked me why I didnt follow the steps for the Clean REINSTALL.

Simply because I did not REINSTALL W7, but in fact, Clean INSTALLED it. That being said, should I try downloading SP1 somwhere else than Windows Update?

Thats it for tonight, I'll reply back tomorrow.

Thanks again for help,
Maesen

I did not use the ISO because the tutorial didnt say anything about it.

I will try installing this standalone SP1 when I get home later.

Thanks.

So I looked ar the computer real fast this morning and it was still at the "Preparing to configure Windows" screen. I let it run over night, since last post.

That means it failed again and is stuck. Now i'll have to roll it back again to it's working state. What do I do now in order to install SP1? Without reinstalling Windows, if possible.

Thanks,
Maesen

Back from work. Still didnt get past it. Rebooted, went in safe mode to revert it. Back on desktop and first Blue Screen since manual update of a driver suggested. So Blue Screen issue isnt fixed, nor is my impossible to install SP1 trouble.

Run a Diagnostic on the hard drive . If the drive is good then I suggest doing a clean reinstall of windows . Meaning back up your data then format the hard drive and reinstall Windows . Use the tutorial that Gregrocker created and gave you the link to .
