I'm finding it difficult to find any information on the SSD, I believe its made by sandisk as thats what its reported as in all logs but the driver takes me to a different website which deals with diskkeeper, and I can't find any drivers on there.

I'm a bit stuck!

Sounds like the laptop wants you to say good bye or good night before it goes off. (just kidding)

Anyway, I believe a clean install of windows 7 will eliminate the issues you're having now. Remember to install the latest drivers and the software that were recommended in your thread at the very beginning.
Let us know if you're ready for the clean install :)

Ok I installed windows 8 but it still does it, shut down just freezes after a few seconds, restart shuts it down and sleep just makes the screen black and the fan goes mental.

Also windows 8 takes ages to boot and its supposed to be faster than 7!

I will set the laptop back to factory settings and then install windows 8 again to see if that makes a difference.

Sorry for jumping in. Just a couple of questions that might help to pinpoint the problem (or not.)

Have you tried going through Advanced Boot Options to access Safe Mode? Will the lappy shut down correctly from there?

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

There may be an application conflict that's messing with shut down and sleep. Try doing a Clean Boot (aka clean startup.)

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html

If your laptop is suffering a hardware issue (intermittent failure of RAM, hard drive, etc) this could possibly affect shut downs. You might want to run some diagnostics checks like check disk, memtest86, etc to rule out hardware problems. This tutorial has some suggestions for additional troubleshooting steps.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html

Again, my apologies for jumping in. Not trying to step on anyone's toes. :)

no thats cool. I have tried safe mode but the problems still existed. I restored to Factory settings but the problems were still there, however now I cant even turn on the laptop it seems to be in a sort of sleep to shutdown transistion, the screen is blank but the fan is on. I have forced power off but it still happens, really weird! Its only just over a month old so I will return it for a replacement.

thanks
