Have you tried stripping the computer back to basics with only the system drive, 1 RAM module, mouse and KB connected and see if that helps (Remove the graphic card also and use the on board graphics if you can) then start adding the other components back which if you have a hardware problem will be easier to detect what causes it

All those BSODs are possible till you dont have Service Pack 1 installed.

As you are failing ti install SP1, do a clean reinstall with the latest windows 7 iso. Follow http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html ... it will provide everything that you need.

Before doing it, it will really be very tough to discriminate between a hardware caused BSOD and a software/driver/service caused BSOD. And there is all chance of continuing BSODs as long as SP1 is not installed.

Dell Studio 15" Laptop
I had made an very nice post but lost it, so iam making a quick one from my tablet.

Yep, i already had calculated the needed watagge, and (now) iam using an reliable dell 500w psu instead of my old generic one.

I striped the computer to basics, unninstalled the nvidia drivers using DDU and noticed an horizontal flickering as soon as i rebooted using the onboard graphics, the screen also flashed black, after this, i turned the pc off. The only thing i noticed during an inspection of the motherboard (maybe the 100th), was the unbelievable temperature the south bridge had, i'am sure i could fry some eggs on it.

Called my friend who has my win7 install disk.
Also, i'am getting deadlocks even on kaspersky rescue disk... Can't barely complete the update or start a scan and it freezes...
This means its a hardware problem, right?

Anyway, i've called an specialist so that he can examine the system personaly, iam pretty sure this is necessary since i'am not an expert, and i will need an backup of my personal files as precaution, and also because i dont have another computer available...

Thank you all for the amazing feedback i got!!
Should i keep you guys posted of what was the root cause, and/or the outcome of it?
Also, should i mark this thread as solved?
And again, thanks for all the help :D

If it locks up running the rescue disk it's most likely a hardware problem. Would be great if you do post back when you find a resolution so others in the future looking for answers will know the outcome so maybe wait till you do resolve it before marking it solved

Hmm the rescue disk not booting or running is a worry and gets me thinking maybe you have RAM problem so try this
MEMTEST
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.htmlthis one you will need to make a bootable disk set the BIOS to optical (or USB if preferred) boot the machine and let it run for at LEAST 8 passes unless the errors come up straight away. Takes a fair time to complete and some leave it running overnight.
If you do get errors and have more than one stick then you will need to test each one separately and maybe even in the separate slots.
If you do get errors and have more than one stick then you will need to test each one separately and maybe even in the separate slots.
IE slots 1 2 3 4 sticks 1 2 or 1 2 3 4 if errors come then try stick 1 in slot 1 2 3 4 then stick 2 in slot 1 2 3 4 and so forth to track down the bad stick or the bad slot/s.
A very drawn out and tedious process but it will save you a lot of grief.

Hey, after a little while, i've bought a new system, this is my first day with it.
I ran several passes and no error were found, same with the hard drive... The windows re-installation suffered from the same problem: Deadlock.
So i decided to forget that computer a get a new one, i also found out that my pc was 8 years old not 5 as i thought, a really huge amount of time for a pre-built computer that should have lasted around 2 years...

So, i've officialy retired that computer, and on a later time i will backup the vital data from it...
Thank you very much for all the feedback and help i got!
now, should i mark this thread as solved?
