BSOD - Dell XPS M1530

I did all the things you told me to, except for removing Kaspersky

Please remove Kaspersky for testing purposes... Trouble shooting is a process of elimination... Let us know how you get on after doing this...

Ok. I installed Avira Antivir and Comodo Firewall instead. Is it a good option? And do you know what was the cause of the last BSOD from the dump?

A new BSOD happened just a while ago. I attach the minidump. I was using some time the Microsoft security essentials but i wasn't satisfied with it so i moved back to kaspersky some time ago. I must say that while I was using MSE, there were no BSOD's. That one happened while I had my phone connected through USB, watching a film on Youtube and installing SQL Server Express 2008 R2 in the background. The Creativce device wasn't attached while it happened. Hope you will help. Thanks.

I have a good idea as to the cause, but I need a bit more info. Could you please follow the BSOD Posting Instructions?

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Do remove Kaspersky, if you can stand it. Honestly, MSE is all you need. Could I address any concerns you have with it?

One last instruction you can follow without that BSOD report. Update LogMeIn, or remove it altogether. I have seen it cause BSODs before.

I attached the files you wanted to.

As for the MSE, for example, I sometimes use my pendrive at my university computers and sometimes some annoying thrash or viruses can be found. MSE didn't found anything, Kaspersky did inform about some of them. Maybe it's not a major flaw but I like to keep my computer "clean".

LogMeIn is up-to-date. Would rather keep this software as it is very useful.

Try removing LogMeIn, and then installing a fresh copy.

Kaspersky is a known cause of BSODs, unfortunately. Tell you what, try leaving it on your machine for now. If you get more BSODs, we'll take a look and see what's next.

If you remove Kaspersky, and the BSODs stop, we know it's time to find another program.

Do you have FLite Star installed? The MSINFO32 files was corrupted somehow, I'm not sure why. If you don't have Flite installed, could you manually upload a new one?

Go to Start>"msinfo32">File>Save. Zip up the file you saved, and upload it in your next post.

While using MSE (for about a month) there were no BSOD's but I think that it was too short period to say.

That file is unreadable too, for whatever reason.

Let's just wait for more BSODs...hopefully they won't return.

Back again...

I'am not using Kaspersky any more, nor the Creative device. But recently, after quite a long bsod-free time, two new bsod's happened in a short period of time. I attach the last two minidumps. The first occured while browsing the web (many cards with flash player opened in chrome) and the second while playing a game. Right now I'm checking if there're any newer drivers available. Appreciate the help.

There are a few drivers that could use an update, but I suspect hardware is the cause.

Run Prime95, both the Blend and Small FFTs tests: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-cpu-stress-test-prime95.html

Also, run Memtest86 overnight: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

I didn't have time to run those tests, but I will do them after the weekend when I will get back home and have another computer to work on. Meanwhile, another bsod happened while playing. Minidump attached.

Run those tests when you get a chance. Memtest86 can be run overnight, and Prime95 shouldn't take more than a couple of hours at most. You can probably work with Prime95 in the background, though there is a change it will slow down your system too much.

I did the tests. Prime95 run for 6 hours, no error or warrnings. The same for Memtest (10 passes - 12 hours) - nothing found. Also checked the hdd for errors - no problems.

Any other possibilities what can cause the bsods?

The video card could be causing it; the last dump would fully support that.

Also, other problems could be the cause. A bad power supply, a faulty DVD drive, even a bad monitor.

Do you have any spare components? Any chance you could change the PSU and video card over? If you have onboard graphics on your motherboard, you could pull the video card and use those instead.

It's a laptop, not possible to change most of the hardware. I know that this graphic card is possible to be faulty (it's the unfamous GF 8600M GT). The computer is still on warranty though, so I can call Dell and try to replace it (but I'm not sure whether it won't cause more harm than good). I recently updated the drivers for the graphic, maybe the new ones are not so good.

I'd wonder if you were correct about the drivers, except that this thread has been going on since July.

As big as a pain as it may be, I do recommend you send the computer back. That is why the warranty exists; even the base warranties offered by Dell include 1 year hardware.

I fortunately have the 3 year next business day warranty so a technician comes to my place and does repairs everything off-hand. Will call them soon and check what they will tell me.
