BSOD Driver power state failure

Hello
I recently have some BSOD's wich lead in reinstalling windows completly,

They when i shutdown my computer, shutting down the computer takes ages, wich lead in BSOD with i think this mssg, the computer didn't make a minidump but did create the folder.

When the computer restarts i can enter my password and then i have just a black screen with a mouse cursor.

also when i use taskmanager to startup devicemanager it doesn't show any exclamation marks in the list.

i have this computer for about 4 months now. just added the new monitor Samsung xl2370 to my setup (currently my second screen is at samsung repair center for RMA, but it's a p2370)

Is there someone who experienced the same problem here or does someone have the solution i would be glad to hear about that,

i didn't reinstall the computer yet the last time it happend. so i can search for something you might need for helping me to get a solution. is

Also my PC setup is entered, and exactly what i have in there. The memory is listed in the compatible list of ASUS. (KHX1600C9D3/6GX)

Let me know when more information is needed. mean while i'm trying to get the BSOD again with my camara pointed at my screen.

Also i can't generate the file with the perfmon /report command. it shows that it can't acces the destination file.

this is the second time i have this problem the second time was 2 days after the complete reinstall.

The number of processes that are listed is: 24
And almost all the service's that are listed are status: stopped

also i've tried to recover with the original windows cd.

also it's possible to start windows in safe mode. i could access the dump file here.

also i could find the bluescreen itself with bluescreenview:

a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

the problem seems to be caused by the following file: dxgmms1.sys

When the computer restarts i can enter my password and then i have just a black screen with a mouse cursor, when i task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) i can walk trough the folders to the minidump folder. but it shows up empty, I can't insert a usb stick in the computer nor can i use network capability's

Hello Mike and Welcome to SF!

I have seen similar issue before with XP turns out to be a virus issue. But it fixed by reinstalling Windows. But in your case I suspect it could be Hardware issue follow this link Hardware Diagnostic | Captain Debugger and post us the results (Hard drive and RAM). When you reinstalled Windows did your format the entire Hard drive and then do a Clean Install ?

No i did not format the entire harddrive, only the partition where windows was installed on. the other one only holds data, that i'm not happy about losing.

with windows xp i had this problem with my gf's laptop. that was because of a virus.

that's why i reinstalled windows, and after 2 days i got the same problem.

also i'm using an older bios version.

i have the update file's already but i'm scared to use the tool in safe mode of window's and screwing up my motherboard.

Memory test is selfcontained in the motherboard. and it's saying it's ok.

harddrive test with ultimateboot cd?

Hi Mike,

Memory Test in Motherboard is not effective. I would recommend MemTest86+ and we used to run it using bootable disk. As for Hard drive find the appropriate Hard drive manufacture and download the Diagnostic software and run it.

Looking at the dump files it's pointing to arusb_lhx.sys which belongs to Atheros NIC driver Driver Reference I would recommend to disable your Wireless card and see if that solves your problem. If not update the drivers.

Disabling the wireless card is easy just unplug the usb stick (my wireless card is a usb stick) it's a shame it's that piece of hardware, because it's my only access to the internet atm. (my parent's won't allow to make a cable in the house)

I will run the memtest on ultimate boot cd and post the result. (i believe the one you mentioned is on there)
also i will run a harddrive check,, ill post the results when i have them.

The memory test came out at a 100% pass, without a single error

also the test of the HDD was a 100% pass, without a single error

seems to be in order.

i will be reinstalling windows again tommorrow.. and will not use the wireless card for a while,, hope the problem is solved then..

the file mentioned in the blue screen worries me,,(dxgmms1.sys) it's an DX update from windows(from windows update). The crash happend after the install of the updates from windows.

I'll be posting again if it happens.. or after a while when everything is fine.
