BSOD during gaming, please help.

Hi guys,

I custom built my desktop PC in 2010, have been getting this BSOD since then but only during gaming, and can be "fixed" by just restarting my PC. It will then come back after a few months, randomly, happening maybe 10 times a year max. Since it wasn't frequent and had an easy "fix" I ignored it.

However recently it is starting to appear more frequently, and I have decided to try and seek help to fix it permanently. It always happens the same way:

1. Mouse starts to get unresponsive during gaming, cursor stops for a few seconds, then moves again.
2. Mouse problem followed by intermittent buzzing through speakers.
3. Computer freezes, this time buzzing is continuous.
4. BSOD.


So far I have tried updating BIOS, all drivers, and memtest (1 pass).

0x124's are typically related to a hardware issue and can only be isolated by stress testing the major components. In this case the CPU seems a likely candidate.

If overclocking, reset all overclocks back to their default settings and then follow this:

CPU - run the HIGH test

Report max. temperature reached, and compare it to the allowable max. temperature for the CPU as explained in the tutorial above.

Thanks Golden, I checked the driver and I'm sure it's the latest version.

According to the tutorial, I might not be able to run that test, my idle temps (HWINFO) are from 47oC minimum -69oC maximum, max temp for my processor is 68oC. Average core max is 56oC.

Mmmmm.....what CPU cooler are you using?

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12P-SE2.

Should I open it up and check the thermal paste or something?

I should also probably mention that I have never done OC.

Open the case and check tjst the cooler isn't clogged with dust and crap.
