Hi.

Since yesterday my life has been a nightmare.
I was watching a YouTube video when all of a sudden I had in front of me that famous blue screen with the error 0x000000F4 (I haven't noticed if the other blue screens continue to give the same error or other ones).

I hit reset button and the computer stuck at the Asus logo.
Switch off the PC and switch on right back. This time Windows was loaded but 2 minutes after was stucked, unresponsive.
So basically, if I hit reset button the PC gets always stucked at the Asus logo but if I switch the PC off and then on again, Windows is loaded but after 2 minutes gets stucked/unresponsive.

Tried to create the dump files as explained here in the forum but no such luck since the PC becomes unresponsive while creating the files.

Tried to update the BIOS but no such luck since when starts to read the rom file in C: it stays there, nothing happens.

Tried to format the disk while installing Windows and it hang there, later I tried again and this time it didn't recognized the disk, acted as if none was installed even though afterwards Windows got loaded till it became unresponsive again.

So I basically can't to anything with the PC at the moment since it becomes unresponsive 2 minutes after Windows open.
Unfortunately I have no means at the moment to test the disk on another computer nor to test other disk on my PC.

Is it possible the SSD is damaged? The strange is that it can load Windows before becoming unresponsive but for some reason it's not recognized anymore by Windows setup.

Also, when i hit reset but and the PC restarts, and hangs on Asus logo, 5 minutes after requests a boot CD. This sounds it's not recognizing the disk but if I go to Bios the disk is there.
How weird is this?

Thanks for your help.
Regards.

Quick update:

Tried to install Asus software to update BIOS in Windows environment instead from BIOS itself as I previously attempted but couldn't since Windows became unresponsive before I could get to the setup window.

Tried to install OCZ software to update firmware but couldn't due to the same problem as above.

Blue screen came up again but it's not creating any dump files.
I have Windows set up to create the dump files as explained in the forum but I've been searching for it but can't find it.

I must say that the blue screen appears only when I start to press every single keyboard key after Windows become unresponsive because otherwise no blue screen is shown. Windows just stays there, unresponsive, with the circle mouse pointer rotating, sometimes with the screen white and that's it. It stays there. I have waited a full hour to see what happen but nothing happened. It just stays there unresponsive till I decide to switch the PC off.

I change the DIMM's, tried to just use 2 slots, then all 4, mixed the DIMM's slot order but all continued the same, Windows get unresponsive after 2 minutes :(

I'm not a expert but i will try to give you some hints:
1. Your CPU temperature is at normal levels?
2. Do you have only one storage unit (the SSD) installed on your computer? If not, try to install windows on each of them, see if is a problem with your SSD or HDD.
3. Do you have the possibility to use a hiren boot CD and run various hardware tests? (Storage, Ram, CPU).

If you want to know if the SSD is failing: Take out your SSD and put it in another computer. If the same problem happens there the SSD is dead. I think it is the RAM sticks that is failing. Here is a guide to check your computer with memtest86+ http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html
If the F4(CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION) isnt caused by a rootkit or virus than it is a failing Harddrive or RAM.

If you can boot into windows, livecd or a USB run a rootkit or virus scan.

I only have the SSD on my desktop so no chance in testing with another drive.
Temperatures are all OK.
I don't think it's the memory but I'm running MemTest86 as we speak.

During my continuous testings I noticed on one of my reboots that BIOS was not recognizing the SSD in Sata port1. Port4 on the other hand was recognizing the CDROM. So I change the connections, connected the CDROM in port1 and the SSD in port4. CDROM was being recognized in port1 which removed any doubts regarding port malfunction and port4 was recognizing the SSD. Unfortunately all the problems continued the same.

No, i meant test your SSD on another computer. See if the problem occurs there. And can you boot from a livedisk or USB? Scan for rootkits?

Memtest finished testing... no errors.

Continued to search about this issue...
It seems OCZ Vertex 2 created a lot of problems...
Only yesterday I noticed the SSD has 2 leds :o. The one related to the SATA port is red which as far as I understood is basically issuing the death sentence for the drive :(

Just ordered the Samsung 840 EVO drive since my board is a SATA 2 there's no point in ordering the 850 PRO since I'll never take full advantage of SATA 3.

R.I.P Sataport Harddrive.
Hope that will take care of the BSOD
