I set up a new computer :
- Intel i7 -4770 3.4GHz
- Motherboard Asus Z87 Deluxe
- Memory DDR3 Kingston HyperX 8GB ( 2x4GB ) 1600MHz PC12800 XMP Series Beast
- CPU Cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer 13
- Graphic Card Asus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II
- Burner Samsung SH- S223L
- HDD Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB (System )
- HDD Western Digital Caviar 2TB Green
- Antec True Power 650W
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
After two days, I have blue screen of death (BSOD) with error 124. The error is repeated a few hours later and then starts to occur within a few minutes after startup.
I ran MemTest on the memory strips and then chkdisk on both drives. Zero defects.
It involves the ntoskrnl.exe / Hal.dll files
I switch the BIOS on IDE instead of AHCI (which was default), I reinstalled windows 7 and then the computer is stable for one month and then starts to crash again .
I am unable to reinstall windows 7 , it crashes during installation. The same blue screen occurs during installation .
I tried a minimal install: PSU / Motherboard / CPU / DVD burner / old strips of ram 4GB dating back to 2009 : The computer crashes in the installation of windows 7 even there is not a HDD connected.
I try to clear CMOS to restore the default settings of the BIOS , change the settings to no avail. I suspect the motherboard.
I change the motherboard for GIGABYTE GA- Z87X -D3H .
I change my PSU to a Seasonic P -860 Platinum .
I install a new DDR3 Kingston Hyper X Blu Series XMP 16G Red ( 2x8Go ) PC12800 1600MHz CL10 .
I keep the same processor
I start the installation of Windows 7, the same blue screen BSOD 124 during installation .
I try another copy of Windows 7, same problem.
I try to install windows xp . It works perfectly , no problems , no crash !
