Solved BSOD From a noob

Hi,

Well I have started receiving multiple BSOD over the last couple of days about 5 or 6, they all seem to have different reasons but the dump is so quick I cannot read them.

Please help from a real amateur about this stuff.

Sorry we took our time... very busy in this part of the forum!

You have multiple dumps with apparently, multiple reasons.
It looks as if you've done some testing too as one of the dumps even blames a memory test session.

From these dumps my first guess would be a memory problem. Can you specify how your 10Gb is built up? That amount suggests that you have different types of ram-sticks in. If so, (i.e. 4-4-2 for example), please test by taking out the the one(s) that are different. In other words, start testing with only identical (brand and size) stick(s) in. If that does not help, lets do a more complete mem test:

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Hey,

No problem about the delay, everyone is busy.

I managed to run the Memtest last night (overnight since it takes a while), and it found 343 errors, I did have all 6 2gb memory installed. My actual memory is 12g 6x2gb sticks, one must have been loose because after I did my own test (just after posting on these forums) my system recognised all 12g again.

I will be doing individual tests as soon as possible. The only thing I am unsure about is do I need to have 2 sticks in at a time or should one work (even with Tri-Channel Mobo?). I tried one before and my PC would not even boot, tried two and is seemed to boot but then crashed (they were slotted right next to each other), put all six back in and it booted.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

PS. I really hope it isn't my Mobo.

If you give me your mobo details I can check. But... it might be simple. The thing is that you need to find the one thing that is messed up (stick or slot, hopefully it is just one thing... ). It's ok to try with two sticks. Only if you still get errors with just two sticks in... do you need to do more to identify what it is by trying those two in two other slots or by trying two other sticks. As soon as two sticks do NOT give any errors.. you get how to test the rest. ALL sticks in those two slots. And two good sticks in all other slots too...
