Solved BSOD help

Your temps are fine; looks there is no problem with overheating. You might want to keep your CPU fan bumped up to about 40%.

If you are overclocking anything, return to default values.

Your latest dump does not tell us anything specifically.
Try enabling Driver Verifier closely following the instructions in this tutorial: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. If Driver Verifier finds a faulty driver, it will trigger a BSOD. Upload any and all Driver Verifier enabled dumps. Use your computer normally while Verifier is running.

I enabled verifier.exe and have been doing normal computing and have had a few BSOD's. They started after I ran an auto-tune on my graphics card through the Catalyst Control Center. I will upload the dump files ASAP for you. They are being caused by mcdbus.sys file. I uninstalled magic iso and magic disc from my computer, since those tend to cause problems with that file. I have not deleted or renamed any files related to them yet though.

There is no doubt that all five dumps blame mcdbus.sys. This is the first time I have seen Magic Disc blamed for a crash. I will tell you that CCC is notorious for causing crashes. Some folks only install the display drivers and do away with CCC. It is possible there is a conflict between CCC drivers and mcdbus.sys. Interesting. I am interested to see how your computer does without Magic Disc. Thanks for the update.

Just got another one

Here is one that I just got, so apparently magic disc/iso isn't the culprit. I haven't uninstalled CCC yet. I just read your recent post.

Also, I'll uninstall CCC later today. Any more dumps that I receive between now and then, I will just ignore, unless you would prefer I upload them.

You can turn Driver Verifier off. This is a Driver Verifier enabled dump; but it is blaming a Windows system driver, very unlikely to be the real cause. Try uninstalling CCC and only installing the video drivers and lets see what happens. And certainly upload any dumps; one never knows what a dump might reveal.

Well, here are two more dumps. The most recent one was received while watching a video on VLC player. I am uninstaling CCC as I type this.

CarlTR6, I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the help you are providing me.

YOu are very welcome for the help. Unfortunately your dumps did not tell us anything specifically. We will see what your system does without CCC.

I removed CCC, but now I am just using a new HDD with 7 Ultimate upgrade from Vista still, since nothing specifically has been indicated in the recent dumps and I sometimes get BSOD's on boot-up and shutdown. I will give this a try for a few weeks and if no problems occur then we know it was with the HDD.

The system specs are still the same, just a 1TB WD Caviar Black 64 MB Cache for the primary instead of the 250 GB. The 250 GB drive is about 5 years old, so that may be what is causing the problems. I will run spinrite on it and check it for errors and such later if I run into more BSOD's with the new drive. I will definitely follow-up on here and let you know if the issue gets resolved from these steps.

Well, a new drive didn't fix anything. I do not have all the up-to-date software installed yet. I got a BSOD this morning. =(

Since you have installed new hardware and made system changes, it would be helpful if you would run the JC Griff tool again and upload the resulting files. http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Well, ASACPI.sys has raised its ugly head again.
Code:
  ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).
Next uninstall Norton/Symantec using this removal tool:Tool. Norton is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. And your version has an obsolete driver. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place and make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.
SYMEVENT64x86.SYS Wed Jun 24 16:19:12 2009
Update the following driver from the link provided.
viahduaa.sys Thu May 07 23:24:59 2009 - VIA High Definition Audio Function Driver. VIA Drivers Download - VIA Technologies, Inc..
Follow these suggestions and reboot. Let's see how your systems does. As you can see, we are basically starting from scratch.

Ok. I updated the VIA driver. That was the main one that I figured caused the BSOD. I didn't know which one I needed to download for the updated version, so I had to check it. So that has been replaced. The SEP is one that my college provides us and we actually need to use it to pass security checks, so I actually have to keep that. I have uninstalled it for now though.

I still see this driver on your system: ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005. It is an almost guaranteed BSOD maker. Update this driver as referenced in my previous post. I also see that Symantec is still installed. While troubleshooting, you have to remove all possible causes of crashes. When your system is running stable, you can add them back one at a time. This includes Norton/Symantec. Uninstall Norton with the removal tool referenced above. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. MSE is very unlikely to cause conflicts and crashes. That one Symantec driver is not a Win 7 driver.

viahduaa.sys Thu May 07 23:24:59 2009 is still showing in your dump. You must have updated this one after the crash.

I updated the ATK0110. So I don't know why the old one is showing up. I downloaded it from ASUS website, following your link and the computer restarted immediately, and not a BSOD restart. So I guess I'll have to go in and manually delete it. I also ran the Norton Uninstall process through programs and did the removal tool as well, so I don't know why that is showing up on there still either. I run Symantec Endpoint Protections v11 MR6, so maybe that is why, so i'll go in and I guess I will have to manually remove the VIA as well.

I will remove those files and re-upload the JC Griff.

I tried to manually remove the asacpi.sys and I can't. I get the error that I do not have permissions, yet I am the administrator of the computer. I attempted to add my account in the security properties, but cannot because the file is being accessed and I cannot modify it. So what do I do now? =(

You have to uninstall the utility that uses it: Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility (a known BSOD maker in Win7). Also a part of the Asus PCProbe and AISuite Utilities. Then install only the video drivers. ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

That's the thing though, I don't have any of those utilities installed. I will just reformat and re-install the OS, with the updated via driver and the updated ATK0110 being the first things I install. I will also not install Norton. I will upload the JC Griff after I do that.

Sounds like a plan. I would install the video drivers without installing Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility. It is installed automatically unless you deliberately do not install it. You can research that on the Asus website.

I reinstalled Windows 7 and immediately Windows Update started installing the ATK0110. I deleted that driver and installed the up-to-date one from ASUS. I do not have much on my system, but I got a BSOD. I've attached the JC Griff for you.

Oh, and Happy New Year!!
