BSOD iaStor.sys on an HP 14 Envy

I am getting a BSOD iaStor.sys on my HP laptop. I understand this is related to an intel raid something. I cannot launch safe mode and start up repair does not work. Any idea outside of throwing in a re-install disc?

What is the bugcheck code? Can you post a camera snap of the BSOD screen?

You said about RAID. Do you use RAID?

iaStor.sys is Intel Rapid Storage/Intel Matrix Storage technology driver. It is configured in two alternative ways. Either RAID or AHCI.

If RAID is probleming, then the desirable way is to disable RAID and go for a clean reinstall.

For AHCI, the IRST can be removed if you can access even the safe mode. If you cannot boot at all, that option will not be available.

So it will be best to see the BSOD screen at first, before saying anything concretely. Let us see it after you get one more.

No, I don't use raid. Sorry, it's a Intel matrix storage manager driver file. I updated the file from intel about 3 months ago but now the problem is back with a vengeance. I cannot boot at all without the BSOD.

Does it mean that you can boot after a BSOD? If so, follow what Boozad suggested.

If you cannot boot at all, let us see a camera snap of the BSOD screen at least, so that we can know the codes and parameters.

No, when I try to get to safe, I get BSOD, when I try to start normal, BSOD, when I try to run start up repair, BSOD. There is no way I can get to the desktop, a command prompt, recovery console, nothing.

Try as Arc said and get a photo of the blue screen to get the info from it, or at least write it down. It's not ideal but it's a start.
