BSOD - IRQL not less or equal, Page fault, Memory Management, etc.

It is 6 GB in both CPUz and Speccy but 4 GD in system information.

Re-seat the modules? It may bring it back to normal.

So you advise me to buy more RAM?
anyway, I have figured out something, every time i put a ram stick in the last port so:

| | | | <<< that one, i get a BSOD, or it reboots when starting..

Also, I tried many different ways of putting htem in, but I just CANT get to 6GB RAM... theres 3x2GB sticks in there, as 1 slot is damaged in a way I can't use it.. whatever I do windows keeps recognizing it as 4GB ram..

oh and heres the dmpfile for the BSOD.
so anyone any idea? also this:

when using just two ram sticks, so 2x2, and i use it like this:
| X | X , X is empty slot, anyway my computer starts making a constant beep...
when using this:
| | X X it just shows 2GB RAM..

doing it this way:
| | | X like I have it right now, it shows 4GB ram..

Confusing isn't it?

Sounds like a bad motherboard slot if it's only one port you are getting the BSOD in.

A few things I have noticed. You haven't stated what ram you use. Your motherboard supports DDR-3 1066/1333. I'm unable to find a motherboard manual. I hope you have one so you can make sure the ram is installed in the proper position. You have a dual channel system as far as I can tell. That tells me you either install 2 sticks of ram or 4 sticks of ram but I'm unable to tell you when using 2 stick which slots to use without the motherboard manual. Your CPU supports dual channel the same ram as your motherboard up to 8 gigs.
Do you have a motherboard manual?
What ram are you using? It's not in your specs.
If it was my computer I would test the ram two sticks at a time installed as per the motherboard manual location. The ram must be matched and bios set to default.
If the test on the ram passes I would replace the two stick with the other two sticks. If they pass I would install 4 matched sticks of ram. If it doesn't pass I would think its a motherboard.
No over clocking until this problem is fixed. Also keep everything unplugged for the computer until it is fixed. Examples: printer, usb drives, card readers, head phones ect.

I linked to the crucial site so you could compare what they recommend for your machine against what you have in your machine.

You have two different types of memory, the one matching pair and one origianal stick.
slot-1 new
slot2-old
slot3-new
slot4-empty

Depaneding on your mother board
1 & 3 could be paired (in that case your memory was install the correct way) or they could be paired
1 & 2 (in that case your memory was installed the wrong way)

Some mobos are particular about an odd number of sticks, and the order of installation (slower 1st or slower last) I think as a rule of thumb - faster and paired go first.

I have not benn able to find info on your machine or board that would help.

Do you have a link in your favorites? Most Mfrs stick the model reference page in htere so users can use it when needed..... it's needed.

Please post it if you still have the PC model reference in your favorites - probably in Acer.

Thanks,

Bill

And here's what Crucial says:
icon_detail.gif

Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 8GB
Slots: 4
Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-10600 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.

I expected you to look at the information provided and determine that you have the worng memory in slots 1 & 3 (PC3 -10700)

I would try to return it and get the correct memory (one of the supported in the list above.

If you go with PC3-8500, that will match the stick currently in slot 2 (wich should be moved to slot 4) or if you want to upgrade, you should buy 2 pairs of the same.

Currently in teh machine (per Speccy)

All DDR3, all 2 GB

Slot 1: PC3-10700 (667 MHz) - Hyundai Electronics P/N: HMT125U6BFR8C-H9
Slot 2: PC3-8500F (533 MHz) - Apacer Technology P/N: 78.A1GC3.9L1
Slot 3: PC3-10700 (667 MHz) - Hyundai Electronics P/N: HMT125U6BFR8C-H9
Slot 4: EMPTY

What I tried to convey, and Layback filled in, was that you have to pair your memory or install it in a certain order. I think Layback infered that you have to have 2 pairs, but I'm not going back to look - it takes me long enough to post something =:>

I've seen boards that allow 3 sticks, but again they have to be in the correct slot. I'm not saying this will work on your board, but if I recall correctly

Slot 1 & 3 get the two sticks that match
Slot 4 gets the odd one

It won't hurt to try
Slot 1: PC3-10700 (667 MHz) - Hyundai Electronics P/N: HMT125U6BFR8C-H9
Slot 2: EMPTY
Slot 3: PC3-10700 (667 MHz) - Hyundai Electronics P/N: HMT125U6BFR8C-H9
Slot 4: PC3-8500F (533 MHz) - Apacer Technology P/N: 78.A1GC3.9L1

Unmatched memory degrades the system, but it should work.

If we could find the mobo manual we would know for sure. Neither Layback or I could find it. Did you happen to check your favorites?

Switch the sticks as I suggested and see what you get. Is all 6 GB recognized?
Hopefully you'kll be able to return the memory and acquire the correct type.

Good luck

Bill

Hello guys, great help, much much appreciated.

Unfortunately, I do not have any manual or so, as I inherited this PC from my passed away uncle..
and he had it for about 2 years already, we didnt find any manuals at his home..

Anyway, how would I recognize what slot is what number?

or just from the back of the computer to the front (left to right in my case)

Oh and I would just like to say that the RAM has worked before, perfectly.. all 4 sticks in all 4 slots, but I guess it just degraded or something..

I'll go test out now.

Good advice so far, I found the manual on the Dutch site, in english, but completely useless. Typical Acer manual.
RAM can and does go bad, it also can be a motherboard slot or the PSU going bad.
How old is the computer?

I'll just confirm what's been said already.
Take the Apacer RAM out, it's only 1066MHz, the Hyundai RAM is 1333MHz. The system will run the RAM at the slowest RAM card level, 1066MHZ.
With three RAM cards installed it will only run in single channel mode, which is much slower than dual channel mode. The issues with RAM being recognized indicates that the motherboard BIOS will only run with 2 or 4 RAM cards. Typical OEM BIOS.

You need to find the correct two slots to put the RAM in, easiest way without a manual is to put the two RAM cards in slots 1&3, counting from the CPU.
Boot up, if it will, open CPUZ > Memory tab, check if it says 'Dual' in the 'Channel #' box.
If it says 'Single', shut down, disconnect power, change the RAM to slots 1&2, check CPUZ again for 'Dual' in the channel box.
Even with slot 4 being suspect, try in slots 2&4.
You may need to move the RAM in different slots until you get it in dual channel mode.

Okay, well before I read your thread, as I just rebooted..
doing it like so:
Slot1: blue
Slot2: empty
Slot3: blue
Slot4: green

(basing on the colours of the sticks :P) It just kept restarting my computer when going to the 'windows loading' screen (where the animation of the windows logo appears)

so now i did
slot1: blue
slot2: blue
slot3: blue
slot4: empty

having the odd one out, but apparently its still 4GB and single-channel

Any clue why my computer wont boot when doing it the way Slarty told me?

I will now try to find the duel channel mode as Dave76 suggests...
also Dave, we suspect the computer is from 2009, don't know where it was bought..
although a supermarket (Aldi) sells computers like these, but usually worse specs, plus my uncle liked to modify computers, to make them faster...

Off to find the dual mode.

Be sure to take out the Apacer RAM card, it should have different markings on it somewhere.
Maybe it's the green one.
The blue cards must all be Hyundai, as your last post shows.

Just test with 2 RAM cards, once it's stable we can test with the other cards.

Yea uhhm, I think slot 2 and 4 are broken...
I tried filling 1-3 with the hyundai cards, my computer made a constant and loud beep, and didnt respond..
now, 2-3 hyundai cards, and no beep but only 2GB ram..
It also says only 1 slot is used :s

so slot 2 and 4 are broken in different ways..
slot 2 just doesn't recognize RAM apparently..
and slot 4 wont allow me to boot my computer

If I test 1-2-3 it will show 4 gigabyte, anytime filling slot 4 results in not being able to boot my computer..

any (low budget if neccesary) tips?
I was saving money for a new videocard :/

Usually if the RAM won't run on two slots, 2&4, it's a channel problem.
The IMC (Integrated Memory Controller, which is part of the CPU) is having trouble running.
When you put the RAM in slots 1&3, leaving 2&4 empty, does CPUZ Memory tab show dual or single channel?
Try putting one hyundai RAM card in slot 1, check if it will boot.
Then in slot 2, check if it will boot, continue with one card in slot 3 and then slot 4.

The possibilities are bad motherboard.

Before reading your comment, I decided to put a hyundai ram card in just slot 2, and it works.. so maybe slot 3 and 4 are the problem, and not 2 and 4.. i will try slot 1 next, after that slot 3, and 4.. although I am concerned that i will get the beeping again if none card is in slot 2

we'll see.

edit2: This computer is killing me (not literally)... but I found a pattern..
slot 2 work, slot 4 works (WTF?) as I currently type, the only ram card i have is on slot 4.. oh and oops.. it happens to be the apacher card.. ill replace the apacher card with a hyundai one.. test again, if works.. ill test 2 and 4.. if that works, ill add 1 or 3 aswell..

but i found a pattern of some reason

the uhhm.. I am not sure how to say this but the things to secure the RAM card (so it wont simply fall out of ur computer), in slot 1 and 3 are white, slot 2 and 4 are black....

results of using 1 ram stick (apacher atm (sorry my mistake) ):

slot1(white) = BEEP
slot2(black) = work
slot3(white) = BEEP
slot4(black) = work

So I think the black ones are neccesary for your computer..
I'll come back with more test results in ~10 minutes

Good point, should have mentioned the colored slot before, if using two RAM cards they should be in the same colored slots, this should be dual channel mode.

When testing RAM, you are tsting for bad RAM cards and bad slots.
If a RAM card fails, beeps, in a slot then try another RAM card in that same slot.
Some motherboards won't run with only one RAM card in certain slots, to check this put two RAM cards in slots 1&3.
Then put two RAM cards in slots 2&4.
Also if a RAM card fails, beeps, in slot 1, test it in slot 2.
You will need to test all RAM cards in a known good slot, in your case it looks like slot 2 or 4.
