Solved BSOD (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, ntkrnlmp.exe) while playing select games

I think time will tell whether it is a closed case. I hope it lasts. And yes it is possible the old hardware may figure into the equation somewhat. But, use it as long as it serves your purpose, then build a new rig. But, as long as it works and is satisfactory for you, it does not matter the age of the hardware. Just give it more time for you to determine whether your problem is solved. Whenever you think it is, give us some feedback and mark the thread as solved. We always like feedback on the cases. I'll look forward to hearing from you. But, get you an external drive to keep your personal file backed up, at least. You may be sorry one day if you don't.

Thank you Essenbe, for all your help. Seriously, I can't state how I much I appreciate you taking the time to help me out with this issue.

I will continue playing over the course of the next day and report my findings. If things are stable enough, I will mark this topic as solved. Luckily, I am in fact upgrading my rig with all the shiny new toys pretty soon here, so hey, even if things still look grim, I can just hold off on these games until then

The hardware does make a difference, without a doubt. But, if it is a poorly coded game, it still has to run on windows, no matter what hardware you have. Windows is the same on your hardware as it is on mine.

Well, been playing all day, and everything seems stable enough. No BSOD yet, so it definitely looks like the problem was caused by the game.
