Solved Bsod. Irql_not_less_or_equal

I wonder if the program installation has become corrupted or doesn't seem to want to work, it has happened with OCCT when I asked for someone to monitor their PSU voltages.

What program installation do you think could be corrupted?

And, I put both my hard drives in the first two 6GB/S sockets on the motherboard, and they now appear on the black screen were the marvell adapter is 'initialising'. But, I tried the Seatools disk and WD DLG and both still claim they cant detect any disks.
I also reset the jumpers, but that had no effect, other than resetting the bios afaik.

Should I skip the seatools phase and run the driver verifyer for 24hrs?

Yes, Crystal Disk Info didn't show any problems, so it's best to run Driver Verifier for the 24 hour period.

Okay. I couldn't run driver verifier yesterday because I was busy all day, and I didn't want to run it just at the desktop, because that wouldn't represent how I normally use my PC.

I started using it today and I had a crash almost instantly. I had two in fact. The first was opening up this game I sometimes play, and the second time was when I loaded up steam to try a different game. So I've turned off driver verifier for now, and uploaded the BSOD's in this post.


One other thing I'll mention, though it inst related, since I've installed my hard drives into the marvell sata connectors on my mobo, they now both appear in the 'safely remove devices' tab, which I found strange. I haven't tried doing it, because god knows what would happen, if I tried to 'eject' my primary drive while its in use. :/ I just hope I don't ever click on it by accident when removing USB's.

Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!KxWaitForLockOwnerShip+12 )

Usual causes:  Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility

Scan for any missing, modified or corrupted protected Windows files with:

Memory:

Run Memtest86+ for least 7-8 passes, and preferably overnight as it can take a while to fully complete.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

I ran the SFC Scannow command and it came back clean.

I've also Ran Memtest a few times so far. I have 2x4 gb of ram, and its in slots #2 and #4 as per the motherboard guidelines.

I've tested Stick #1 in slots #2 and #4, for 8 and 11 passes respectively, no errors. I've also tested stick #2 in slot #4 (where it has always been), and ran it for 8 passes (no errors.)

I was going to run stick #2 in slot #2, but I'm not sure if that is necessary? Since I've only ever used slots #2 and #4, I've ignored testing slots #1 and #3 for now.

I don't know if I have already asked this, but have you checked and updated all your drivers?

Yes. Afaik, everything is as up to date as it possibly could be. I'm certain there isn't anything lacking. Like I mentioned in my first post, I've had trouble with drivers in the past, so I'm pretty sure I've got a good handle on all the necessary/critical drivers for my hardware.

There might be an update for CCC, I could try that.

The sandy bridge processors contain their own SATA controller. Always use the Intel SATAs first. The Marvel controller is an add-on that gives access to extra SATAs for use of more devices if needed, but they are inferior to the intel ones. Plug into the first SATAs marked SATA 0,1,2...
Also, there are two SATA modes to choose from in BIOS; IDE and ACHI. Choose one or the other before installing Windows so it can set itself up for what you choose. Preferably ACHI with modern drives. It's troublesome to cahnge it later.
You can use your Marvel SATAs for stuff like optical drives.

I havent had any BSOD's since I ran driver verifier, but I did have a few days before that I believe.


Also, thanks for that slartybart, I'll be sure to put my HDD's back into the intel sockets when I next go into my machine!

I just put my other ram stick back in, and put my SATA connectors back in their original sockets.

Do you want me to run driver verifier again? Or try those two disks I burned, or just see how things go?

Does Windows still detect your drives? It may be the program itself, or the speed in which you burn the program files to the CD/DVD.

If Windows still detects the drives, then I would wait until another BSOD.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by 'windows' , but they show up in the 'Computer' folder, in disk management, and in the BIOS. Basically anywhere I can think to look.

My optical drive is a BluRay if that could cause the issue? As for the speed at which the disk are burnt, I don't have any control over that. I'm just using the disk image burner built into windows.

I mean Disk Management, and did you burn the program to a Blu-Ray DVD? I'm not entirely sure if 'normal' DVDs are compatible with Blu-Ray optical drives

Okidoke. They do show up in disk management. And, I just burnt the programs to regular DVD's. I don't have any bluray disks, not even any films lol.

I'd expect they should be compatible, but then again, I'm not quite sure. I guess there could be something 'special' about computer game disks, OS disks etc which make them work. Or it could be the programs on the disk that don't like bluray drives.

A quick google search doesn't provide any answers...except where to buy blank dvds.
