Solved BSOD New system build, memory_management and kmod_exception_not_handle

Sorry, I forgot the link. :o

If I was doing it I'd get the ASUS, I know pro builders who have to be forced to use MSI boards. That ASUS is a solid one and can give you nice OC options. The list. Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Motherboards, Intel Motherboards, Intel Z75/Z77, $100 - $200, 2

ok yeah i noticed those boards, and still undecided between the two I showed you.

You think asus? but you then stated pro builders use msi. ahhhh. the reviews just scare me about the asus board. i currently have an asus and it's never let me down.. but new hardware just sucks getting because it may be faulty.

I feel like the msi would be trustworthy, but the asus seems to have more potential, but then again more likely to have problems, but the msi could just as much. and they both have very very similar features. ill decide when I get home from work, hopefully I can get more feedback and google about these boards more to see which to choose.

Thanks much for the help so far :D!

I ordered the Asus because it has a longer return policy than MSI. In case this board is a no go, then I'll be able to test things, return it if I have too, and then I'll give MSI a shot.

I'm going to keep in touch with this thread! Hopefully I get no bsod's and I get a good board. Thank you for the help so far!!!

Ok. I am getting the asus in tomorrow. I just blue screened again on this asrock. nvidia just released a new driver, so I downloaded it and as it asked me for the extraction path, I have it the same default as before, and as soon as i clicked "Ok" or whatever, it froze and blue screened, instantly.

This one is the system_thread_exception_not_handled
but this one, rather than just the ntoskrnl.exe, it also includes "cdrom.sys"

I restarted and just installed the driver as I normally would and it just worked. So I don't get all this.. :\

Idk if it's worth showing the dmp files, because I am just wondering what if my gpu is faulty? But i doubt it because it was working 100% before in my prior build, never had 1 problem, as well as I currently play video games and it has never blue screened during video games. It only blue screens during installation or on desktop.

Also, I haven't blue screened since putting the RAM in the other slots. So I am taking it that the other 2 slots, were faulty.

Hopefully this asus board will do me well!

I will stay in touch here, and thank you for the help so far you two.

Alright so I got this up and running, and I already obtained a blue screen...

I haven't got to windows service pack 1 yet, but I was opening up disk management and as soon as i clicked it, blue screen.

ntfs_file_system
0x00000024

this one states it's ntfs.sys and ntoskrnl.exe

I tried kaspersky again because it never had a problem on my last build.. so here is just the dmp file for this single blue screen. hope you guys are still around. not sure if this bsod was once again caused by kaspersky, as i only blue screen on desktop or opening windows related programs..

also the asus drivers, two of the sata ones wouldn't install, and the Intel management driver wouldn't install either because of no CRC file? on the asrock it worked but on this it doesn't.

Uninstall Kaspersky internet security for the time being, as its file system monitoring mechanism often results as a Ntfs issue. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Sometimes any virus attacks also cause it. So scan the system for possible virus infection.

Do some disc checks.

  1. Update your SSD's Firmware (skip it, if it is not a SSD)
  2. Re-seat the sata and power.
    72974453_zps85c47d93.jpg
  3. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
  4. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
Let us know the results.

I think it's solved..
I tried doing the checkdisk already, no errors. I noticed anytime I had installed windows, even with the asrock board, several windows updates would fail, windows would hang on update, it'd never go smooth like it use too, and I couldn't even get SP1 to install no matter what, plus on that last windows installation it started saying it wasn't genuine so i was like ok wtf is going on now this has to be a joke

but... this motherboard came with 2 new sata cables, with little clips too!

So i took my old sata cables out, put the new ones on the CD drive, and the 500GB where I was installing the OS.

I started everything up, installed windows, started installing drivers, on the 4th driver which was like USB stuff, it blue screened with kmode_exception_not_handled, and i searched that up once again, and it was likely due to bad memory or drivers, and i am positive my memory is good, after all what i've been through, plus it was during a driver installation, so i rebooted and reinstalled driver and it was successful, and i started doing windows updates and they went smooth, only ONE failed, they updated fast, i just selected them all and clicked download and install updates, it did them right away.

Stuff seems to be running a lot better, with everything actually. I am running MSE for my antivirus for a week or so to see if i get any more bsods, and ill do malware bytes scan too, in the morning.

So i think this all was because of a bad cable? cus now i got new cables in, and i did everything the same, and now it's smooth, and installing properly.

We'll see in a few days if i get any more bsods. you think the cable could have been the problem?

I really appreciate all this help, and i really hope this is solved.

Yes, cables may be the root of the problem. Discs are connected by those, and if cable connections are bad, storage error may occur for sure. Well done :)

I am going to wait a few days and see if it blue screens, if not, I'll mark as solved!

It's weird though because google chrome still has those weird crashes and asks me to reload the webpage.. it never did that to me on my last build, so I hope these crashes aren't telling me it's going to blue screen soon because of some bad installation or something. lol

Thanks much!

Just blue screened while it was logging into the desktop.

ntfs_file_system

see.. i never got that before, now I am getting it on this installation.. I don't get it.

I am still running MSE

What else could this be? The hard drive maybe? I need to run some HD tests, i already did chkdsk and that didn't find or need to repair anything.

I'll try the seagate HD test as well as a test from my manufacturer itself, which is WD.

If that finds nothing, should I try installing the OS on the 1TB because the 1TB is only a year old, the 500GB is a little over 2 years old. Plus i never bsod while doing anything on the 1TB, only windows related things like logging in or using some of the windows applications. But I doubt it's the HD because I never had problems with it before.. all i did was swap it over to this new build, I didn't drop it or anything, sigh

:(

Ok now on startup, 10 seconds after logging in I get an error, "Run once wrapper has stopped working" then I get the system_service_exception bsod. I don't got anything new installed on startup other than printer drivers, could I give the dmp files if that'd help? Other than that, I am going to run the HD diagnostic and if the dmp files don't do anything I shall try to install on the 1TB

I noticed ever since this good install, I never did the printer stuff till yesterday... and since those have been installed, on my first turn off and boot up back in the morning, it blue screened.. so maybe the printer drivers cus it has a few processes for the printer run on start up. But I just disabled those on startup so I'll see if that changes anything.

ok i looked through the DMP files. and since i use epson i looked for epson related words in the dmp file and i found this

so i noticed the event ID is 1001, hehe that's in my name, and i looked at event viewer and matched up the times the bsods occured, and those two bsods i got this morning, had event id 1001

So I am taking it that the printer drivers/software is causing this bsod?

I am very sorry for the constant posts, I just am letting you know all what has happened so once you have the chance you can read it and let me know what I can do from there. I appreciate all the help!

I also ran WD lifeguard HD test, it passed, ran seagate short and it passed, and I am currently running the long test. Doubt it's the HD after what I found and piecing all this evil printer driver stuff together :P

Get rid of intel rapid storage.

  1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "computer management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "Disc Drives" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all items under "Disc Drives"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate system driver, msahci.sys.

Kk got rid of rapid storage.
Did a scan, no viruses or anything.
Tested HD's with WD lifeguard, seagate short and long, the chkdsk you suggested earlier, no errors or problems
Screenshot is in the attachment

I disabled the printer stuff on startup the other night and I don't got any blue screens so far since that stuff isn't running. I remember too, while installing that, it gave me an option to continue to install because of some incompatibility thing or cancel the installation, but I continued it. So I think it may have been that.

Also, crystaldiskinfo says my C drive (the os) is running on SATA3. I thought it was sata6.. unless it's an older drive that can only do sata3. I forget. but yeah

Let me know if that screenshot is useful for anything. I think the problem is the printer drivers though, I'll wait awhile to see if it blue screens, if not, I'll try printing some stuff and seeing if it'll bsod.

Thanks for the continuous help!

Hi Vinny, I just wanted to let you know that you are, in fact, running in sataII mode (3Gb/S). You will notice in your screenshot it saying sata/300. However for the Western Digital drive you are using, it does not matter. A mechanical hard drive cannot go even as fast as SataII ( sata/300). Here is a screenshot of my drive. You will notice it says sata/600. That is sataIII mode.

Yes I will stay updated with this thread Arc, I am sure it's the printer drivers/software unless it continues to happen without those running or even if the printer stuff is uninstalled.

Yeah essenbe I was thinking that's what that meant because on my 1TB it shows the 6. And a HD can't go over speeds of Sata II even? Never knew that. learn something new each day! haha

...so.. i am back. with a whollllleeee new bsod. never had this one with the asrock even..

i use bluescreenview and it doesn't even show a name for this one, but it shows it has to do with..
hal.dd
ntoskrn.exe

the bug check code is 124

I googled some about the hal.dll but people are getting bsods from this by overclocking or something with the voltage.. i haven't touched anything with overclocking or any of that

I left my computer on for some .NET updates, and went out, came back and find out it had blue screened.
Maybe while it was installing updates it went into sleep mode and cut out? I'm doubting that, but no idea what else would have caused this.
I have also read a lot of people get it while gaming, yet mine doesn't relate to that since I wasn't well, doing anything cept updating haha

I included core temp screenshot (my temps are fine)

and the dmp files, which I looked at and found the part where it shows the bsod error, but this time it doesn't specify what caused it at all, unliked the printer issue i found earlier, this one doesn't say anything! :(

Ok I have done most of those except installing a vanilla windows... and this was just a single bsod of the hal.dll, it's not like it's reoccurring where it's a persistent problem that can easily be found, because well, this is the first time it occurred, and for it to occur again it'll take days, or weeks, so it doesn't really help me.

If I bsod more, depending on which bsod I get, I may just install on my 1TB to see if it was the 500gb in case the 500gb HD is going bad soon.

Other than that, I think i fixed those other bsods, cept this new one.

Hopefully it can be fixed soon.

Anything else I can do?

And happy holidays!!!!!!!!
