Solved BSOD on boot up. Laptop will not Boot

I have a Toshiba Laptop which for a number of weeks will not start up first time. I get a BSOD which shuts the computer down before I can read it. If I try to reboot "safe mode" takes ages to analyze (about 40 minutes) before telling me the issue cannot be solved. If I then boot again but select normal boot, the laptop will often (not always) boot normally. This morning it has taken 2 hours to bring it back to life.

I have downloaded and run the free Iobit advanced system care 6 registry cleaner today and also the windows 7 forum diagnostic tool and have attached the "grab all" files to this post.

On reboot the windows information was

This software is a known cause of BSOD's. The windows 7 operating system does not require these registry cleaning software. They often tune-down rather than tune-up and can wreck the OS beyond repair. Microsoft have improved Windows 7 significantly and it is much better at organising and optimising itself than its predecessors. Check this, this and this thread for evidence.

If you feel the need to use a registry cleaning or optimisation software, most of us recommend the use of CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download but make sure you back up the registry before making letting ccleaner delete anything.

What antivirus are you using? Ok I see norton.

Norton tends to cause BSOD-s and seen it create several issues for users. Recommend uninstalling it with the Norton Removal Tool and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials. See if this stops the BSOD-s.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Perform a System File Check to check the integrity of all protected Windows 7 :
  1. Click on the start :orb:
  2. Type CMD on Search
  3. Left click and Run as Administrator
  4. Type

Disk Check on your hard drive for file system errors and bad sectors on it.
Reduce items at start-up. Nothing except anti-virus is required plus improves the time for logging in windows.

I have removed advanced system care 6 and Norton 360 and downloaded malware bytes and am running a scan with this. I am unable to download the Microsoft security essentials...if I try to open the download I get "server error 404 file or directory not found" whereas trying to save it gives the message mse_install couldn't be downloaded.

I will complete the other acions on your checklist and post the results here.

One other question, as I had alraedy used the advanced systemcare 6 without backing up the registry files would it be worth returning my system to a trusted restore point ie the day I purchased the laptop?
