BSOD on reversion to W7

On seeing the W7 eol notification, I followed the directions to get a free u/g to W10. The first attempt failed but after a BIOS update to my Dell M6700, it succeeded. However, I found that a couple of my favourite apps. did not work properly and I hated the GUI, so the following day I found out that it was possible to revert within a 10 day period and went ahead with this. It was on (I think) the 2nd reboot that the BSOD appeared and despite all my efforts, constantly recurs on boot-up.

DM Log to follow (if I can contrive it!)

Well I copied DM log collector to the Windows boot drive (C) but I can't run it! What now?

Did you boot into win7 ok the first time and on the 2nd reboot you had BSOD?

Do you have an image backup or only the Windows.Old folder ?

Do you have installation media - and/or bootable repair/recovery media?

I wasn't paying close attention to the process so I'm not sure of the state.

I certainly don't have an image b/u: not sure re. W-old folder.

> Do you have installation media - and/or bootable repair/recovery media?
Yes, I have a W7 install disc. and an old version of Falcon boot but the latter is not much use.
I tried the recovery option on the W7 install. disc but they failed.
I used a Paragon disc to copy the recovery tool to drive C but as I said, I could not run it.
I can also access all partitions via Puppy (linux) but again that does not enable me to run the log collector.

Hard to tell what has gone on there.

I would try adjusting to new hardware first.

Then if no joy, try replacing the hives in windows\system32\config with the backup hives from windows\system32\config\regback

Easier if you can see what you are doing using decent boot media:

I don't know what is meant by this.

Also, what should I do with that .iso and what will it enable me to do?

Ok, I've burnt the iso to a cd and I can boot with it.
How do I adjust to new hardware?

Initially, after booting from a CD of your iso I could not see the native drive, but after restoring the MBR with Partassist the drive became visible.
Windows Startup Repair reports: "Failure while setup is in progress"
I was able to read the BSOD err. msg.: STOP 7B 880009A97E8 C0000034
Also, startups in Safe Mode stop at loading: sys32\drivers\classpnp.sys
Was able to run dm log collector but it encountered an error, then continued. I don't know if a log was saved - I could not see one.

So don't bother adjusting to new hardware?
Or adjust 1st - then hives?

Try adjusting first.

If no joy, then try hive replacement.

Implemented both of the above to no effect - ie. same BSOD on boot.

Have I any other options or does it look like a reinstall?
