I have just started getting BSOD when using a specific game - Sim City.

Sometimes after 10 mins, then not for another 3 hours.

The word that seems to appear in log most is ntoskrnl.exe.

I spoke to MS via live chat and they suggested without much detail to do Windows 7 repair, I am thinking it is driver related - but which one I have no idea.

My files are attached, any help much appreciated.

Update it from Intel Download Center

Apply the latest version of nVidia display driver.
You may download it directly, from our forum link http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/602-latest-nvidia-forceware-video-drivers-windows-7-a.html; or you may opt for the Option 2 of Drivers- Download NVIDIA Drivers for “Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products” (it requires java installed).

Thanks so much, I will do this today.

Regarding the sound drivers, when i look in Device manager it also lists:

NVIDIA High Definition Audio
VIA High Definition Audio

Are these drivers, or just reference to sound capabilities ? So do I need to Uninstall these ?.

Under Mice
There is HID compliant mouse - is this also neded ?
It also lists Logitech G500 - whoch is fine as for my true mouse.

I will update you when done.

Dont uninstall the VIA HD audio.

If updating ASUS Xonar fail to stop the BSODs, it may be needed to shift to that one.
If any updated driver is found for the Logitech mouse, get it.

If you remove the Xonar card, does it still BSODs? Take it as a test. Let us know. Depending on the result we have to decide other next steps.

Tried with Card out using Mobo sound - ok for 10 minutes then had end brief moment of enjoyment for family stuff. Will try again later.

I check on other sound forums and it would seem the Xonar DG driver I have is the most recent, so not sure what to do next assuming I establish stability without Card.

The main problem of the ASUS sound card that they use C Media's drivers. C Media updates their own drivers regularly, but ASUS depends on them for driver development.

We want to know the situation without the ASUS sound card.

Have had BSOD again, with Xonar card removed.

Next error what my limited knowledge can show is a graphics driver issue, but seems so strange I am seeing no issues with
other games / software.

Showing nvlddmkm.sys ( nvlddmkm+19800e ) - but wonder if there is something strange going on.

Here is the new file, help would be appreciated. Really frustrated as all I guess are with BSOD.

Thanks

PS have also add latest WHQL Nvidia drivers now.

Further BSOD - this time MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION .

Went to Blue screen - and did not shut down, had to do manually.

Just don't have technical knowledge how to move - little worried.

Updated files attached.

1 - Xonar drivers and Card removed.

2 - Nvidia new drivers added.

To date no crash with any other programme......so have even re-installed this game to see if that helps ?.

Reference to this crash was hal.dll, is this start-up related? issue very rarely when I re-boot PC stays at boot option screen (where I can select Bios etc) but normally no boot issues.
BSOD is always when in software (game) though - not in start-up.

It seems each time, I solve what is perceived to be the issue - another pops up.

Do I maybe need to do a Windows 7 boot or normal repair ?.

Can anyone help with my latest dump files etc. Thanks - any help appreciated.

Thanks - looks like I have a lot to do, starting tonight I guess.

In my last BDOD there was reference to hal.dll, is there anything here that I need to worry about ?.

Lastly with regards to "If you use such a device, update the driver from C-Media Electronics, Inc.. If you dont use such a device, go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and\0r C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers, and delete PLTGC.sys. Then observe .... is it makes the situation better or not? " I have no idea what this is.

I do use a Plantronics head set sometimes, which is connected via a USB socket - in my Driver list this is shown as "PlantronicsG PLTGC Interface". Might this be the drivers you a referring to.

I will report back, thanks again.

hal.dll is Windows Hardware Abstraction Layer .... and you got BSOD as Machine Check Exception. Here youneed all the hardware checks.

As you know the headset uses the failing driver, update the driver.

An update - and I know I am stupidly tempting fate.

Since my last BSOD (before which I physically removed Xonar card and main drivers and updated GPU drivers still but still got a BSOD) I have used Driver sweeper and found more Asus sound files which I also removed.

Probably unrelated (and maybe had no impact) but I have not yet removed Plantronic Headset drivers (C media) but did remove headset from USB.

Whether by pure chance or by Sim City continue issue of file updates, no more BSOD's since.

I will keep my eye on this and see what I can add back in terms of using the Xonar card.
Someone suggested these drivers:https://brainbit.wordpress.com/category/uni-xonar/
where much better - any feedback here ?.

I will I think stay where I am for now and hope for continued stability.

Again all - thanks for your help to ger to this point.

(I just know after this positive mail it will go tits up again tonight....)

Two days without a BSOD is good. Update the situation when needed, or when you like :)
