Hi Sevenforums,

to give a bit of background i have had a few issues with my laptop overheating when playing dota 2 and it would BSOD for about 6 months or so. Last week i was about to start a game (so no chance that it should have been overheating) and then it BSOD and ever since then It will BSOD as soon as I try to load the game.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the AMD driver over and over again, and trying to run the game of inbuilt Intel Graphics. when i try to load the game with Intel graphics it simply does not load although does not BSOD. I have attached my zip file.

If you could please provide some kind of clarification as to how i can fix this that would be much appreciated!!

Also it seems to be a problem maybe with steam? as i can run other games outside of steam just fine.

Thanks!

Hello, yeahey and welcome to the Forums. I will see if I can help. Could you check your System Specs and make sure they are correct. They say a Desktop, but all of the specs say Laptop. Uou have 2 dump files and both are essentially the same.

Code:
[COLOR=red]VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (117)[/COLOR]
The display driver failed to respond in timely fashion.
(This code can never be used for a real bugcheck.)
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa8007988010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff88001daaaf4, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g owner tag).
Arg3: 0000000000000000, The secondary driver specific bucketing key.
Arg4: 0000000000000000, Optional internal context dependent data.

The other one is essentially the same other than the code is 117 instead of 117, which are the same. Basically it means you drivers crashed but failed to recover in the allotted time. The Operating System assumes a video failure and shuts down to protect itself. This is a very common stop code for Laptops with switchable graphics. This is your current driver.

Code:
 atikmpag
start end module name
fffff880`01da3000 fffff880`01df8000 atikmpag T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: atikmpag.sys
    Image path: atikmpag.sys
    Image name: atikmpag.sys

As you can tell by the date of the driver, it is in need of updating. Please go to Dell's web site and download the latest driver for your particular Laptop. You really need to download the driver from Dell and your particular laptop. Most OEMs alter the drivers to work with their laptops. So, a driver downloaded from anywhere else probably won't work.

Also please open an elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

Please let us know the results of how you do with the updated driver and the scan.
