- Win 7 64bit
- re-installed Win7 upgrade 2 times, last was about a month ago
- was Vista OEM
- System is 4 yeras old , GPU is new

Quick back story. Started with instant crashing to BSOD booting games, stating atikmpag.sys, w/ a Radeon HD 4870 x2. Narrowed this to a bad video card/overheating. Purchased new Radeon HD 6870, and now get several other BSOD, but this is inconsistent. I can some times go hours w/o a crash and sometimes it's 30 min.

In the last two weeks I have seen these several times;
-memory_management
-page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
-dxgmms1.sys - usually with the page_fault_... error
-nids.sys, seen one time
-win32k.sys, seen one time
I also have
-The sound in games will stop, but i can keep playing.
-Game crashes to desktop
-A "Windows Explorer has stopped responding" message
-A "Internet Explorer has stopped responding" message
I have tried
-3hrs of Memtest86+ - no errors
-scannow
-Driver verifier
-----this BSOD in game w/ page_fault_... and dxgmms1.sys
-updated drivers, GPU, DirectX, BIOS

I'm thinking new motherboard, HD format w/ Win 7, or a baseball bat

Please help,
Taylor

It would seem my RAM sticks, although all the same type, have different versions. When trying to track down my video card issue I had tried resetting my RAM, and I must have put a version 4.1 with a version 6.1, instead of pairing them like they are now.

I'm having exact symptoms, let me know if your fixed, that would point to my RAM.

Haven't had a single crash since matching my RAM versions back up. If you have more than one stick of RAM try one at a time in your MB to see if you get one stick that is causing the crashes.
