Hi,

please help.

System details:

Windows 7 pro 64bit
MSI P35 (I think)
Q9400
4GB DDR2
Nvidia 520 (I think)
Crucial 64GB SSD
WD Green 2TB

Started computer this morning and it got to the desktop and then had enough time to click the Windows problem box check for solution, and about 10 seconds later it crashed with Blue Screen.

I restarted and got to the desktop and clicked the Windows problem box check for solution, and about 10 seconds later it crashed with Blue Screen.

I rebooted to safe mode and it's been ok for the last 30 mins.

I haven't run any registry cleaners for a long time. Only major thing done recently was I installed 7-zip yesterday.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: really sorry guys - I hadn't realised it hadn't copied all the files as the window was behind this forum window. Hopefully that's everything.

Just run TDSS Killer and ESET online scanner with no issues.

This is all done in safe mode as I can't work in normal mode.

If it is a registry error than i think you should backup your stuff and re-install windows.

Thanks Laith.

Is it simply an OS problem that will be fixed by a re-install or could it be caused by hardware meaning the problem may come back?

I did a System Restore and removed Norton and it hasn't blue screened yet.
I'll try putting Norton back on and see what happens.

Edit:So far so good.

Yes, the registry is the windows commander(if you can call it so)
It is not any hardware problem or something.

Edit: If Norton was causing it than something is wrong with the Norton registry keys.

I eventually found what looks to be the source of the problem.
There were some registry keys that had problems with the upper and lower filters.
I deleted those filters and everything has been fine.

Thanks for trying.
