Hi all, I get a BSOD quite often. Not sure what the cause is, have done a couple of fresh installs in the past but still happens. Here's the latest dump files. Seems to be a different file causing it everytime! Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not surprised that Norton Antivirus is also one of the cause of your bsods.

Please uninstall Norton :ar: https://www-secure.symantec.com/nor...roduct=home&pvid=f-home&version=1&lg=en&ct=us
Its a known cause for bsods.

Download and install MSE :ar:Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
and run a full scan after updating it. Its the most compatible (+free) antivirus
for windows 7.

If you want extra security, I recommend the free version of Malwarebytes.
Get it from here:
:ar:Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware
including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

Now run the system file checker 3 times and reboot each time integrity
violations are found: :ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

To make sure that hard drive is good run disk check following this tutorial:
:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

Do these and let me know if your computer is more stable. In that between I
will take a look at your older dumps and let you know if I find anything else.

Thank you

Hi!

I did try all that you said. Updated driver, deleted Norton and downloaded M.S.E. System file checker came back with no problems 3 times and disk check was also fine. I have since had one BSOD according to the Mini Dump files on 23/09/12 at 10pm but I didn't actually notice this (someone else that uses my P.C may have just closed the notification before I got a chance to see). It does seem slightly more stable though at the moment!

Regards

David

Run disk check for hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it.

Hi, I hadn't actually installed Service Pack 1 on this machine, I thought I had but must have been my Alienware system. I just installed it though and performed all updates etc. Not sure about the Bios. Haven't updated that for a while. Where would I find the correct one for this board? Just had another BSOD:
