BSOD so now and then since I installed windows 7

strange thing is
The two ram sticks were different brands.
Also different GB sizes.
I bought the computer like that from a computer store a few years ago.

ram 1 was 2gb
ram 2 was 1gb

Does stuff like this cause problems?
As you told me to buy a stick the same size,
I assumed you meant size in GB, or did you mean size as in physical size of the actual stick?

Well if you mean in GB, I guess I better buy a set, as I don't want less RAM then I used to have.

Very unfair. Yes, it may cause all the troubles.

Now get a RAM KIT. A KIT contains at least two RAM sticks of the same size (in GB) and the same FSB, and obviously of the same brand.

Let us know how it is running with the replacement RAM.

I went to a computer store, only kit they had it seems was 2x4GB Kingston Hyperx.

I put it in my motherboard.
It doesn't work.
When I turn computer it just keeps resetting every second, like into the boot.
IS this Ram uncompatible?
Or did I do something wrong?

I was already worried, when I bought, because my old ram says 1333Mhz, and this new one I bought said 1600Mhz, guy at computer store said that that was not a problem.
I didn't really believe him, so asked if I could return if it did not work. He said I could.
I guess I will return tomorrow.

I updated the specs in my profile.
Offcourse I still have the old memory here (as my computer is unusable with the new ram sticks).

I don't think I heard any beeps when it kept restarting.

Anything you can do to help, or do I just need to return the sticks to the store, and get new ones that are compatible?

Thanks. When I look for that board model I get a page for a bare bones system.

If you can get into BIOS with the new RAM see if there are settings to adjust it to the specs printed on the RAM labels. It should simply run at 1333 as Arc said.
Try this with the new RAM too.
Some hardware tests to run.

RAM (memory) test:

This will require memtest on a bootable CD or USB stick.

I went into BIOS with the old RAM.
Couldn't find options to change RAM settings.

I assume the bios options won't change when I put the new RAM in :geek:

Should there be options in the BIOS?

Well I gotto go to an appointment right now, so I hope to speak with you tomorrow on this forum.

Please open the case and see is it has a model number printed on it. On ASUS boards it's usually between the PCIex16 slots. It should at least automatically set them to 1333MHz.

Yes they have removed the all important AI Tweaker tab. :(

Try returning your RAM and explain you have no adjustments for it. Maybe they will have some that will be compatible.
