Thanks for looking into my issue. I did clean install on my Lenovo Z580 using recovery CD. It is a long story.

You are welcome to review

How do I reapply the failed updates upon Win 7 clean Install?

Win 7: Black screen on boot up, before login screen (Clean Install)?

Summary - What did we do so far?

1) I installed System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) (Hotfix for Windows (KB947821))

2) C:\Windows\Logs\CBS>sfc /scannow

3) Posted C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log, CBS.log, CheckSUR.log, CheckSUR.persist, Appevt.evtx, System log (from event viewer)

Findings:
You appear to be having what appears to be a common problem with Lenovo's - the NSDSvc is failing - this is part of Lenovo's Fast Boot Service.

@Noel Suggested :

Please follow the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - hust post the resulting file back here.

DM LOG collector file is attached.

Thanks for helping.

Since you installed with a recovery CD, you possibly have all the junkware by Lenovo and some more?

Try uninstalling those software perhaps.

At the moment, all I can suggest is to uninstall the NSD app from Lenovo, and see if that improves things - from what I can make out, it's not exactly a stable piece of software :(

Thanks. I will try that. How do I know the improvement upon uninstall of NSD?

How do I put back the failed win 7 updates after doing this?

Do you want me to post any files after uninstall?

*** I checked the services list under task manager. It shows NSDSvc(Fast Boot service of Lenovo) as Stopped status.

Thanksfor your reply/suggestions.

I uninstalled NSD . It asked me whether I like to uninstall completely? I said yes. I restarted the computer.

It is taking more time to boot now.

The NSDSvc(Fast Boot service of Lenovo) is disappeared from taskmanager==> services list.

As per your request, logs are attached as zipped folder for your diagnosis.

I hope this helps. Awaiting for next steps.

Thanks for helping.

Good - the logs are now pretty much error free. I think the remaining errors can be ignored for the moment at least.

Please post the CBS.log file (copy it to the desktop and zip the copy for upload)

Thanks for your suggestion. I did follow your direction . I ran sfc /scannow. I got
Code:
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS>sfc /scannow Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
I still find a large CBS.log file (uncompressed 5+ MB) compressed (288KB) .

The CBS file in attachedhttps://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A83A9EC4CCC786CB!152&authkey=!AJrpCh06cgxf4AM&ithint=file,zip

Let me know, next steps :p

There's an error there with a Manifest file - CheckSUR should pick that up (although it may just be an error in a pending update)

Please run the CheckSUR tool again, and post the new CheckSUR.log file.

Nothing :(
This could be due to corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder - the problem with that*the conventional cure *can lead to problems later on, if not handled properly, and you will lose your Update history (but the updates will still be installed, and viewable in the Installed Updates listing).
*
Open an Elevated Command Prompt
Run the following commands
*
NET STOP WUAUSERV
REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
NET START WUAUSERV
*
reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.
*
Install only the oldest update found - and reboot once installed
then go back to Windows updates and install the others.

Thanks for your reply/suggestion. You mentioned that you did find some errors in cbs.log. Is it related to wndows update?

I followed your steps.

Code:
C:\Windows\system32>net stop wuauserv
The Windows Update service is stopping.
The Windows Update service was stopped successfully.

C:\Windows\system32>ren c:\windows\softwaredistribution sdold

C:\Windows\system32>net start wuauserv
The Windows Update service is starting..
The Windows Update service was started successfully.
Rebooted & waited 10+ minutes, and open Windows Updates, and ran Check for Updates.

I am getting "No Important updates available". I am attaching the screenshot.

Update history is empty

Awaiting for next steps.

It's not exactly informative :)

At least WU seems to be behaving itself- what are the optional updates being offered?

Thanks for your reply. I am attaching the optional update details. There were 200+ failed update earlier, that I posted in the previous thread. Now, update history is empty.

Does it means those failed ones go through?

I did check on another win 7 64bit sp1 computer. It does not have a single filed update.

Thanks for helping.

You should probably install KB3080079.
Assuming it installs OK, check that it appears in the History log - and then check the listing in the Installed Updates log, which will have all the updates listed.

I installed KB3080079. It went OK. I am attaching the History log & Installed Updates log (screen shots) for your review.

It shows 265 installed updates in Installed Updates log.

Is it the correct number for win 7 64 bit SP1?

Thanks for helping.

That sounds about right - there is NO 'correct number', since every machine is different, and has different requirements for updates.
Since that went in without a problem, and WU appears to be functioning as designed, I think we are done?
