Hi to all

I have an error message BSOD from November.

It's very random and i don't know if it is an hardware or software (driver) problem.

In all cases is involved the file ntoskrnl.exe.

For now i send you the zip file as instructed.

S.O. Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition

Video Card GeForce 550 Ti Gtx.

Tell me if you want other information.

Thanks in advance

Kaspersky is contributing in your BSODs.

Uninstall Kaspersky using Kaspersky Removal Tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

The display driver is also failing there.

And it is the latest version. Try to roll it back to an earlier version that worked good there.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • 2012-12-13_224441.jpg
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.

As you have noticed, I found three different contributors of the BSODs. When Kaspersky and SPTD is removed, it remains the display only.

As it is a branded desktop, and display is crashing, you first check the PSU. Is it supplying adequate power there or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator

Also, is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Take the two hardware tests I suggested earlier, too.

Hope we will be able to find out the reason behind the display crashes.

Also, i have reinstall all s.o. and software on 19 february and for one month
there were no errors bsod. On 25 mars happened again bsod.

When Gaming with Arma 2 Arma 3 and Skyrim with option high or medium high there are no problem.

Some times bsod happened on pc idle (not in standby or sleep).

Thanks

Lorenzo

The CPU is hot, it is at a critical level of heat from which it may take an upward turn anytime.

That is why I suggested you to uninstall Kaspersky. Yes, it is Kaspersky that was causing the BSODs there.

No, Kaspersky was not conflicting with any other installed software or program; it was conflicting with the system. In some countable instances it happens. As a third party security program, its intention is to secure you. For that purpose, it will block things which are not safe to it. But things that are not safe to it are not necessarily unsafe, specially the OS elements like Ntfs.sys, fltmgr.sys, fileinfo.sys and tcpip.sys. If those are blocked, your HDD usage will be blocked all of a sudden ... your network access will be blocked all of a sudden. So it will result in a BSOD.

Kaspersky's intention was good, but it failed to discriminate between malicious and non malicious things properly .... blocked system resources unnecessarily, caused BSODs.

Hope it is clear now?

Norton Internet Security causes the same issue with a greater frequency. Every 20% norton users are victim of this issue.... every 100% mcafee users, too :)

I'd suggest you to use Microsoft Security Essentials. Many of us using the program happily over a very long time, without a single issue..... neither virus nor BSOD.

I find some other thing.

On 5 January nvidia release new driver 310.90

On 6 January begun bsod on my pc. (i haven't install 310.90)

On 25 mars Nvidia release new driver 314.22. And again i haven't install these drivers

On 26 mars begun bsod again after a period when haven't bsod.

This happens with different types of drivers. 306.97 and other 2 different version.

I think are not the drivers themselves, but the system to update of the control panel nvidia. (Perhaps conflict with Kaspersky ?)

Is it possible?

Thanks

I wrote this to understand the problem more deeply, not for Kaspersky

It is interesting and curious?

nvidia control panel does not conflict with kaspersky.
the 310.14 WHQL is known to be buggy .... it caused many a problems there.

But the 306.22 WHQL never failed on the driver itself.

Kaspersky causes BSOD on itself, it does not conflict with the display driver at all, but it conflicts a lot of system elements.

Finally, if the issue is caused by display driver auto update failure, the failing module would not have been nvlddmkm.sys but something else.
