BSOD Victim#4561Z (RESOLVED)

Here's another BSOD victim.

I was running Prime 95 for 5 minutes and temps went over 90C! Turned down turbo and underclocked CPU to 2.6GHz it was cooler by 10C while running Prime95 for almost 30 minutes with no problems.

was using folding@home overnight with no hiccups, temps barely reached mid 50c. Temps right now are stable @ mid 40c. There's really not that much room for cooling with a full ATX PSU right on top of CPU cooler. Things are cramped in there

Playing games so far hasn't given me any problems/crashes. Watching videos(youtube,hulu, etc.) has been the single reason for these crashes.

Specs(brand new build, 3 days old)
Case:Thermaltake Lanbox
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Mobo: MSI P55M-GD41 (MS-7588)
Bios: ver 1.8(purchased with 1.4) -Latest ver
CPU: Intel Core i5 760, Thermaltake Slim X3 cooler
RAM: 2x2GB Patriot DDR3 1333MHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB (CCC ver 10.9)-Latest ver

Are you running overclocked right now?

Since BSODs are occurring during video, let's go ahead an install K-Lite codec. Install the basic before you install the 64-bit, as Flash is 32-bit.

No it's running underclocked at 2.6GHz and i have the k-lite pack installed as well(one of the first things i always install)

I'll go ahead and uninstall and re-install by your method

Bios 1.8 will help with low memory voltage and compatibility

I believe your Realtek driver is old:

I'm also going to run the Driver Verifier and we'll see what happens

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:

The driver SPTD has been known to cause many BSODs

If the above does not work, I think that the driver verifier will give some information.

Yep, sure enough it crashed while trying to watch a video.

SPTD will not show on verifier, ,but uninstall as suggested.

Wireless usb device was the cause of the crash?

uninstalled SPTD as suggested. Time to go watch more videos

You should continue to use the verifier for 36 hours. There may be other drivers that need to go.

It crashed again and saw "athrxusb.sys" when the BSOD popped up. I went ahead and uninstalled those drivers and switched over from the USB network adapter to a PCI Wireless ethernet card.

Re-ran driver verifier to update on the new device.

I'll check back in 12-24 hours

It seems that switching over to the ethernet card has helped in getting rid of these BOSD's. Been watching videos without any hiccups so far
